The MEP Practice within JMT has been steadily growing for over 2-decades within the mid-Atlantic region. Currently, we are experiencing significant growth within our Richmond, VA and Charleston, SC regions. This growth is a result of strong leadership, consistent marketing, and profitable expansion. As a result of this growth, there is a strong need for technical leaders to fill critical positions. Opportunities include managing and mentoring technical staff and leading teams to achieve our objective of maintaining high standards of work while taking on more diverse projects.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned projects including scope, schedule, and budget. This position is the lead technical advisor on specialized systems or processes for JMT. Responsibilities also include engineering design and technical staff development using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers. Supports MEP growth through strong technical focus on quality deliverables. Coordinates work for various state and federal agencies.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
  • Supervise production of design computations
  • Supervise and/or prepare and compile contract plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Attend meetings with clients
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
