Leidos Dynetics is seeking a talented Senior Manufacturing Paint Engineerto join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, aerospace, cyber, space and commercial fields, Leidos Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

This position will support all manufacturing locations to develop, document, and execute Manufacturing Paint processes, systems, and procedures to support painting, and assembly integration. The candidate will provide technical expertise to develop and implement processes that meet engineering requirements for complex aerospace and defense hardware, both prototypes and production.

This position will collaborate with the site manufacturing engineering teams to implement functional excellence and standardization across all plants through documentation and implementation of functional processes for programs from conception to completion with an emphasis to optimize productivity.

The Senior Manufacturing Paint Engineer will also provide critical input in formulating manufacturing strategies, defining business processes, facility planning, and driving engineering standards throughout the sites.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Support the development or management of technical capabilities, process roadmaps, and manufacturing strategies to meet key customer requirements including both internal and external customers.

  • Constantly evaluates all phases of the paint process (cleaning, sanding, coats application, detailing, etc) seeking for excellence in safety, quality, cycle and cost aspects.

  • Promotes the technical integration between all operations and engineering departments aiming processes improvements implementation, new materials testing and approval, and dissemination of technical knowledge.

  • Resolves complex paint process problems by collecting and analyzing information; researching, analyzing, adapting, and modifying engineering techniques; recommending solutions; reviewing drawings; evaluating processes, components, and materials; resolving design integration issues; developing processes for CARC Paint, MIL-DTL-53039 Type IX, TT-C-490, and safety standards.

  • Assist the site manufacturing teams with the development, justification, and execution of long-range plans to meet corporate objectives. This will include production launch activities, plant layouts, and engineering change control activities.

  • Assist in evaluation of capacity planning for paint equipment and processes to ensure ability to meet takt time and customer requirements.

  • Identify, prioritize, and implement solutions for process improvement opportunities including application of lean manufacturing principles, process mapping, root cause analysis, time studies, and problem-solving techniques.

  • Fostering an environment of continuous improvement through sharing of best practices within all manufacturing sites.

  • The candidate selected for this position will support the execution of multiple simultaneous and diverse manufacturing activities. This will be a dynamic environment and a high growth area.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must have a BS in engineering or equivalent technical discipline with 10 years of experience OR Masters in technical or business discipline with 10 years of experience.

  • Candidate must have experience in manufacturing engineering functional support teams for Defense, Aerospace, Space or Commercial projects with an understanding of manufacturing engineering and quality requirements for such projects.

  • Technical experience in the creation of manufacturing strategies including make/buy decisions, equipment requirements, process definition, work area layout, tooling requirements, takt time evaluation, and capacity planning.

  • Ability to effectively work across multiple teams to drive manufacturing excellence across plants.

  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Other Qualifications

  • Preferred candidate will have prior experience in Paint facility planning.

  • Preferred candidate will have experience developing processes, tools, and work areas to support paint processes.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Lean principles, manufacturing metrics, and continuous improvement.

  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Solumina MES software is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Agile PLM engineering design data management software is a plus.

  • Familiarity with AS9100, IPC, and common military specifications.

  • Strong personnel, planning, and project management skills.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
