Our client is a dynamic and innovative media company powered by the mission to represent and serve as a trusted voice, platform of influence, and power source for the minority culture. They specialize in creating inspirational and entertaining content. They are looking for an experienced Video Content Strategist to join their creative team. This role is remote with East Coast time zone core hours Mon-Fri (9am-6pm).
The Content Strategist will be a master at audience development and producing optimization strategies for YouTube, and social channels as well as content inspired by and in support of our client’s network’s current programming and priorities. The successful candidate will work with the video, social and editorial teams to create platform-appropriate video to help drive KPIs including native social video views, YouTube subscriber growth and views, overall channel growth and brand value/relevance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In partnership with our video and editorial teams, build a robust content strategy to optimize original programming concepts with a goal of delivering subscriber growth, loyalty and engagement.
- Oversee and analyze video metrics/audience insights and use analytics to recommend strategies that will improve content performance.
- Working with our creative production department to ensure a consistent overall look and design of the channel, including managing thumbnails, descriptions, banners and artwork.
- Work with the marketing and product teams to develop, maintain, output and speak to weekly dashboard and a monthly report to be distributed to editorial, marketing, video production, and ad sales teams.
- Develop creative optimization techniques that drive reach, views, click-through and watch-time on videos.
- Work with marketing, video, editorial and social teams to coordinate release strategy and marketing plans with internal constituents.
- Outreach and coordinate with internal and external partners on YouTube collaborations, guest appearances, and social media exchanges.
- Develop and manage a community of fans for the channel both on-platform and off-platform using social media, comment moderation and community outreach activity
- Day-to-day operations of the YouTube Channel. This includes coordinating new video deliveries and uploads, maintaining YouTube creative and strategic tools (updating logos, end cards, annotations, in-video programming, playlists, playlist shelves, thumbnail testing, video bugs).
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 - 5 years working with digital video and YouTube platform at the brand/ publishing level.
- Experience in on and off-YouTube marketing and promotion techniques, including social media platforms and community engagement.
- Strong understanding of YouTube Analytics with an ability to manipulate and analyze audience data. A successful track record with a history of exceeding quantitative and qualitative audience measurement goals
- Experience of commissioning, producing, and creating quality video content for online distribution • Excellent understanding of entertainment content consumption on all digital platforms and especially YouTube
- Excellent social media and digital literacy, particularly online video and video production including audience engagement, and YouTube optimization.
- A track record of digital multi-platform usage and an ability to produce creative content to meet key audience demographics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.
- Must be able to prioritize, handle several projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment while adhering to shifting deadlines.

- Ability to work independently while also providing leadership and critical thinking for a close-knit creative team.
- A curious critical thinker always looking for stories with a passion for editorial storytelling and new media.
- Can work well in a collaborative environment.
