Baxter plans to spin off our ~$5B Kidney Care segment into an independent, publicly traded company. The new standalone entity will leverage our nearly 70-year legacy in acute therapies and home and in-center dialysis to provide best-in-class care to the people we serve. With its own investment priorities and enhanced management focus, the company will be better positioned to pursue growth opportunities and invest in innovation. This position will be part of the Baxter Global Tax Accounting team prior to the spin-off of Kidney Care segment, and then upon the spin-off, will be a member of Kidney Care segment's Global Tax Accounting function. Prior to the spin-off, this role will assist with completing Kidney Care segment’s tax provision for purposes of issuing carveout financial statements and gain an understanding of Baxter’s current processes and systems for computing the spinoffs global income tax provision.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Prepare and/or review quarterly Tax Accounting journal entries, including US federal and state return to accrual analyses, and financial statement impact of audit settlements, plus prepare and/or approve quarterly domestic tax payable calculations
  • Take a lead role in the global annual effective tax rate (AETR) and cash tax forecasting processes, including GAAP and adjusted GAAP forecasts
  • Perform international tax provision reviews in coordination with non-US Tax department personnel
  • Take a lead role in the global UTP documentation processes, working in conjunction with US and regional tax personnel to identify, report and monitor uncertain tax positions
  • Assist in preparation and review of the quarterly and annual income tax footnotes to be included in the filing of the Company’s consolidated financial statements with the SEC
  • Manage SOX compliance related to income tax provision matters for internal control purposes
  • Collaborate with external audit firm on quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Work closely with corporate Controllers’ group to ensure proper tax reporting
  • Support and lead all aspects of the timely and accurate filing of all US federal and state income tax matters, including any audits related thereto
  • Provide supporting information for federal and state tax audits as needed
  • Take a lead role in special projects both within, and outside of tax provision and compliance processes, including assistance with Kidney Care segment’s carveout financial statements
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements related to the global tax provision and U.S. tax compliance processes, including but not limited to reformatting workpapers to drive efficiencies and automation opportunities to reduce/eliminate non-value add work
  • Mentor, review, and provide development plans for direct reports

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA required, MST recommended
  • 7+ years of corporate income tax experience, including Tax Accounting and compliance and exposure to transfer pricing matters
  • Hands-on, deep technical experience preparing domestic tax provisions under ASC740; experience with foreign tax accrual matters required
  • Experience in a complex global manufacturing organization
  • Financial accounting consolidation systems experience (e.g., HFM, etc.) a plus
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision is a plus
  • Ability to understand highly complex tax issues, work within a team environment to resolve such issues, and communicate results in a clear/timely manner
  • Ability to proactively partner with various corporate departments, including Consolidations, External Reporting, Treasury, Audit, and Financial Planning

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000 to $176,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
