  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Year Round / Full Time
  • The budgeted range starts at $82,800 - $106,425 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Summary:

The Senior Manager of Store Design and Development is responsible for leading and managing all design phases for major capital projects with internal & external stakeholders, and for all aspects of design including briefing objectives, standards & concepts, and documentation.  The Senior Manager will also lead communication, presentation, and coordination with internal stakeholders including the EC.  Projects will include but are not limited to discretionary capital projects, the My Epic Gear fulfillment network, and the implementation of technology and platforms that support Store Development.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the creation, organization and management of design documentation related to VRR capital projects, including conceptual drawings, elevations and presentations necessary for gaining internal alignment.
  • Completes all due diligence for development and design phases of major capital projects.
  • Prepares proposals and permit sets for various stages of store development, and manages the submission and approval of proposals to and with the appropriate stakeholders (including, but not limited to, towns, counties, HOAs, USFS, Districts)
  • Leads all aspects of EC alignment process including preparing and delivering communication and presentation
  • Obtains consensus between regional teams, operations, marketing, merchandising, finance and store development to ensure concept briefs deliver on strategic objective, and best practices for capital management are achieved
  • Create briefing documents for external resources (architects and contractors), create and submit project documentation on schedule (as-builts, shell docs, MEPs, bid sets, permit sets, etc.)
  • Prepare design proposals, elevations and concept documents that clearly communicate optionality and intent, so that appropriate internal feedback and approvals can be obtained promptly.
  • In partnership with VRR Marketing and Operations, create and catalog concept documentation for store prototypes, approved fixture designs, and storefront elevations, to ensure consistent product delivery and alignment with MEG programming needs, BASE strategies, and architecture.
  • Lead fixture development and documentation, including coordinating signage specifications and capacities, with feedback from appropriate and relevant internal stakeholders
  • Build database and process for management of critical design documents (architecturals, photography, surveys, layout versions, etc.)
  • Maintain and distribute Store Development status report, and align dates and deliverables to steering committee-level trackers
  • Prepare layouts, elevations and schematics in InDesign or Revit for the purpose of gaining alignment on project development; partner with VRR Marketing on store branding and exterior sign submittals, window design, etc.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in retail Design and construction, with preference for sporting goods including equipment rental
  • In-house Store Design experience preferred.
  • Fluent in Revit, InDesign, Sketchup, Excel, Adobe CS and Smartsheet.
  • Strong communication skills in visual formats, as well as in verbal and written formats.
  • Strong understanding of architectural details and ability to create and give feedback on plans
  • General knowledge of code considerations, survey techniques and feasibility studies
  • Strong negotiation capabilities, with broad knowledge of supplier bases for retail and warehouse
  • Some travel required on a project basis; Whistler-based projects require valid passport

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $82,800 - $106,425 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
