The Senior Manager of Space Planning leads the development of store merchandise layouts for all new, existing and acquisition stores and leads the team responsible for oversight of the reset process, ensuring the highest quality planograms are delivered to the field. This Senior Manager will produce actionable insights for Category and Field teams that enable consistent improvement of space productivity. This person will be accountable for designing, developing, and delivering value to our guests by overseeing the Space Planning Team's responsibility of implementing differentiated product assortment and optimizing product placement for all stores. You'll lead or assist in the development, testing and execution of major merchandising initiatives. This work is primarily performed in an office setting, but travel will be necessary on occasion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for hiring, training, salary administration, performance management and coaching and corrective actions for direct and indirect reports. Create opportunities for skill development and career progression. Live and model our Casey's C.A.R.E.S. values.
- Lead the Space Planning Software Transformation initiative through the design and implementation of new software, processes, capabilities, and responsibilities that contribute to the continuous improvement of the team and the company.
- Develop and execute two-year work plan to onboard and implement new software capabilities and team responsibilities to support company goals.
- Lead all aspects of floor planning including developing and executing merchandising standards supporting consistent and data-based store layouts, developing, and delivering actionable insights to support analysis and provide recommendations to Merchandising Leadership Team. Work cross-functionally with Construction Team to determine optimal store layout and functionality and provide guidance to Floor Planning Team.
- Lead all aspects of category planogram resets including developing and delivering actionable insights and recommendations, partnering with Category Management Team to review product flow, adjacencies, recommendations and insights, manage team in execution of agreed-upon changes that support the category and company strategy, and oversee the project process and timeline, as well as the development and delivery of communication to the store teams that provides detailed execution direction for reset activities.
- Lead Space Planning Team responsibilities related to the Monthly Promotion and Sales Plan Cycle, including physical merchandising plan, promotional product placement planograms, timeline and deliverables.
- Oversee the function of coordinating with Category Management Teams and Suppliers to facilitate receipt of necessary product samples to capture product images and dimensions, and to test new planograms in our Model Store.
- Partner cross-functionally with Category Management, Procurement and Construction Teams in the development, testing, and deployment new fixtures and equipment.
- Manages acquisition store transition activity including physical store visits, collaborating with Acquisition Integration Manager, identifying, developing, and executing the optimal assortment, layout and fixture strategy given store space.
- Partners with cross-functional teams to ensure continuous improvement and process simplification for the field team.
- Supports and assists Director of Merchandising Support in the planning, testing, development, execution, field communication and implementation support of major merchandising initiatives.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
- At least eight years of space planning experience is required, with leadership preferred. Previous retail experience with convenience, discount, grocery, or similar environment is required.
- Experience in Space Planning approaches to floorplan and planogram development and analysis required.
- Experience working with drafting software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.
- Leadership through a system transition and the change management that goes with it.
- Strong knowledge in personnel management, marketing, and merchandising concepts
- Strategic and operational planning skills. Ability to analyze results and evaluate opportunities to define recommendations, course-correct and enact change.
- Ability to provide guidance to Category Managers, stores and team members and influence without authority.
- Demonstrated ability to produce desired results by leveraging resources across functions, maintaining tough expense control, managing merchandise effectively, and setting clear expectations.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and leadership skills, including a willingness to provide superior guest service, react appropriately under pressure, willingness to be agile and pivot as-needed, and apply good judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to prioritize, direct and motivate team members to achieve maximum results in their work. Proven ability to drive positive change.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the proven ability to remain organized and self-motivated.
