About the job:

 

Based in The Hague, Netherlands you will be part of the Chief Technology Office, a strategic business function leading the NCI Agency Technology Strategy and associated strategic change initiatives required to deliver NATO's digital transformation.

 

This new post within the CTO will be a leader within the newly formed Space Technology Adoption and Resilience (STAR) team, a lean group of highly specialised and international staff.  STAR has been established to deliver consolidated and integrated support to the Alliance across all areas of the space domain. The STAR team will enable the exploitation of space domain technology for NATO's defence and deterrence ensuring NATO's technological edge to benefit from secure, resilient and effective employment of space domain technologies for the Alliance.   

 

The Senior Manager, Space Operations Technology Services will be responsible for developing and supporting the implementation of the NCI Agency technology strategy for space support to operations. This role will be responsible for:

       Leading, planning, directing and supervising the work of members of the STAR Team activities related to space support to operations. Coach, mentor assigned staff members whilst support in attracting, and retaining visionary, competent and ambitious people in the team.

       Delivering research and development projects related to space support to operations technologies, architectures, threat and resilience.

       Coordinating the space support to operations portfolio delivery across NCI Agency and support Space Capability Package development as appropriate.

       Delivering projects of conceptualized future services opportunities to be implemented into the current NCI Agency Chief Operating Office service portfolio, as well as be responsible to develop and manage a Space Engineer Subject Matter Expert team.

About you:

 

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

 

       A Master's degree in Space Engineering, Engineering or a related discipline with 5 years post-related experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related subject with 8 years post related experience

       Formal qualification in Project Management and Programme Management Techniques (preferably PRINCE2, PMP or MSP)

       Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in space engineering and delivering space capabilities

       Experience in use of space and potential opportunities in the Defence areas

       Experience in discussions with industry, international organization and government representatives in the context of space capabilities development

       Knowledge of Space domain applications

       Knowledge of Space data, products and services used within the military

       Knowledge of key space actors within the Alliance; national, military and commercial

       Experience in leading and managing personnel from diverse backgrounds in complex scenarios

       Experience leading teams as well as with Financial and Resource management;

       Experience in application of state-of-the-art project, programme, portfolio management processes, procedures and tools, including risk management, benefits realisation, stakeholders management

       Ability to explain complex problems in a concise and clear manner

       Proven ability to communicate effectively in English both in writing and orally with excellent briefing skills to different types of audiences, including authoring high-quality reports and providing briefings to senior stakeholders
