The Role
eBay is looking for a seasoned payments professional that will lead cost of payments optimization and analytics for the payments business. You will be part of the Cost of Payments, Monetization Strategy and Analytics team that drives critical initiatives and business analytics for the payments organization. This is a critical role that will work closely with a host of internal team members as well as external partners in driving best-in-class cost optimization and reduction strategies across the entire payments ecosystem.
What You Will Accomplish:
Strategy: Develop payments strategies to optimize and reduce cost of payments for financial services business at eBay.
Scope: Cost of payments strategies covering credit and debit cards, payment wallets, bank payments, alt-pays, payments processing, cross-border trade and seller payments.
Planning: In close partnership with product, partnerships, finance and risk partners, create a three to five year plan on cost of Payment Optimization initiatives that support the long-term strategy. Work with PMO teams to ensure project alignment, resourcing and scheduling of the critical initiatives.
Critical initiatives: Create bcasesfor cost reduction initiatives and inform the thinking via discussions with cross-functional partners, tracking industry trends with a view to create best-in-class cost optimization framework for eBay.
Support: Provide assistance to partnerships and business development team in their contract negotiations and provide both strategic and analytic inputs to them as needed, by closely working with the reporting and insights team. Collaborate with the partnerships team in helping monitor and track contract compliance with-respect-to cost of payment implications (e.g. PIN-less debit, dues and assessments etc.).
Monitoring: In close collaboration with the reporting and dashboards team, build out the vision for comprehensive tracking and monitoring mechanisms for cost of payments for payments business at eBay
Updates: Provide regular updates to the payments organization leaders around key trends and troubleshoot instances where there was a sudden change in
Card network mandates: Be the primary point of contact to assess impact on cost of payments resulting from bi-annual card network mandate changes in April and October.
Industry and competitive trends: Keep a tab on key payments and financial services industry trends in cost of payments, share recommendations with the organization on strategic implications. Provide regular updates to the organization on important industry trends and analysis.
What You Will Bring:
8-10 years of overall experience and at least 7-8 years of experience in the payment/financial services industry
Has in-depth knowledge cost-of-payments drivers, and is well-versed with data elements that are critical in driving cost of payments
Proven track record in driving data-driven payments strategies, especially in cost-of-payments and proficient in leading execution of key initiatives.
Proficient in knowledge of network interchange fee programs, has thorough understanding of cost of payments, including payment processor and acquirer reports.
Comfortable managing with ambiguity and able to drive in a highly cross-functional and fast-paced environment
Strong ability to influence partners, lead key meetings with large groups and drive decision-making.
Must possess a high level of responsibility and accountability
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Bachelors or Masters in an analytical field/statistics/Computer Science/Operations or related experience would be highly desirable.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.
$144,000 - $216,150Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
