Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan or Mountain View, CA, three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

The Communications team at General Motors focuses on impact and driving transformation through storytelling. It is home to the company’s Internal & Employee Engagement, Vehicle Brand, Corporate, Tech & Innovation, and International Communications teams. We are searching for an Internal Communications Senior Manager to execute strategic, company-wide narratives on GM’s top priorities, and support our most senior leaders as they bring our teams along the journey. This person will have a deep understanding of how to inform and inspire employees, provide strategic counsel to senior executives, drive change management, and use data to deliver maximum impact for the business. This position is a unique and high-visibility, high-impact opportunity working with GM’s top leaders and demonstrating the value communications can bring to the company.  

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic counsel to leaders, cross-functional stakeholders, and communications teammates 

  • Develop and lead effective internal communications strategies that help the company meet its objectives

  • Draft high-quality communications that enable leaders to deliver the right messages at the right time, and to the right audiences  

  • Create scalable processes that improve company-wide and leader communications, along with high-impact cascades and cadence s 

  • Collaborate effectively with and influence stakeholders across the company  

  • Ensure communications practices support an inclusive hybrid environment 

  • Be an excellent player-coach people manager who is focused on developing direct reports’ skills for the greater benefit of your team and GM

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 10+ years working in internal and/or external communications   

  • Incredible written and verbal communication skills  

  • Experience working with senior executives   

  • Excellent project management skills  

  • Deep experience executing complex organizational change management on a large scale, and developing/executing high-quality, high-impact communications strategies with proven results  

  • Ability to zoom out to see the bigger picture of what needs to be done, and to zoom in and pay attention to details 

  • Unflappable leadership under pressure, while staying nimble and driving results forward amid ambiguity and change  

  • Desire to inspire and align teams through highly engaging communications and educational programs

COMPENSATION: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

  • The salary range for this role is $98,900 to $158,000.  The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
