Position Summary: Livent is hiring a Business Process Improvement Lead that will drive, lead, and manage small and complex large-scale initiatives through structured change to improve business processes, organization, and systems across our global locations and multiple functions. We are looking for a candidate that is more than just a facilitator. This person will need to be a hands-on, self-starter who strives to become an expert in understanding the end-to-end business processes and systems and can leverage their change management skills to drive results. The person in this role must have a strong ability to connect the dots and understand complex interdependencies to integrate people and processes. The Business Process Improvement Lead will play a highly visible role in enabling and executing the growth and transformation of our business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with foreign local finance staff with all tax matters and consultants, as needed
  • Oversight responsibility for all Canadian tax provision and compliance
  • Support implementation of tax strategies and special tax projects
  • Manage all data necessary for BEPS compliance and evaluation of Pillar 2.0
  • Support Legal entity rationalization
  • Responsible for preparing technical research, including preparing and maintaining tax analyses and technical papers, to support tax filing positions.
  • Responsible for the management of the corporate US tax compliance
  • Responsible for certain complex US tax calculations (UNICAP, R&D)
  • Experience of leading teams with varied skills and experience – responsible for building & developing talent within your team
  • Establish strong relationships, demonstrate organizational and interpersonal skills to support a collaborative environment and foster open communication.
  • Collaborate with other functions within the Tax Department to determine end-to-end tax impact of initiatives.
  • Coordinates domestic and foreign tax audits, including research and documentation of audit issues, preparation of audit assessment appeals, and liaising with tax authorities.
  • Proactively identify technology and data needs within Tax, including initiatives for process improvements and automation
  • Liaise with teams outside of Global Tax on tax technology and/or data projects to ensure tax requirements are properly incorporated
  • Provide strategic and tactical oversight for the design, development, operation and end user support of tax systems and tools, including maintaining reference guides and training materials
  • Oversee the standardization of tax reporting and data analytics by utilizing existing tools and identifying areas for enhancement
  • Work with tax and cross-functional teams to establish goals and objectives for the tax relevant portions of Company’s IT strategy.
  • Maintain and assure adherence to all policies and procedures concerning tax technology and data

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

Education and Experience:

  • MS in Taxation
  • 15+ years of Tax Experience
  • Advanced knowledge of: US federal and state tax matters required
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of SAP required
  • Strong knowledge of tax technology tools and systems required
  • Ability to work hands-on and mentor a team
  • Project management experience with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills
  • High degree of commercial acumen and ability to make reasoned decisions and judgements.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Experience of managing relationships with internal business leaders
  • Experience with managing advisors to provide cost effective value add services.
  • Able to deal effectively in a multi-jurisdictional and global environment
  • Flexibility and agility
