Team Description
Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at the Audit Analytics and Innovation Team. We're not a traditional Data Science team: we build creative Machine Learning solutions across multiple domains from LLM based chatbots, GenAI powered applications, to AML/Fraud solutions, Card statements anomaly detection, Customer call transcripts intelligence, etc.. We hold a pattern in Graph analytics and are in the process of the next application in the NLP space - the opportunities to learn and build fast allows team members to gain their full potential. We partner closely with product, tech and design teams so you will see faster build to market cycles for product features that delight our customers with dynamic and integrated experiences. In 2024 and 2025, we're leveraging the latest technologies to uncover actionable insights from hundreds of thousands of unstructured data, with collaboration from across the Enterprise.
You will be the driving force to innovate and create next generation features powered by the latest emerging NLP and generative AI technologies. Role Description
In this role, you will:
Create a vision and roadmap to leverage innovations to solve business challenges with long lasting impacts
Guide team members to create best-in-class Data Science solutions and to achieve their full potentials
Rally a cross-functional team of risk professionals, leadership team, data scientists, data analysts, software engineers, and product managers to propel both the Audit function and Capital One forward
Provide technical leadership to team members in leveraging cutting edge technologies for business applications
Leverage a broad stack of technologies - Python, Conda, AWS, Spark, and more - to reveal the insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric, graph and textual data
Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation

Basic Qualifications:
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree plus 7 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master's Degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining PhD plus 2 years of experience in data analytics, with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date
At least 3 years' experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis
At least 3 years' experience with machine learning
At least 3 years' experience with relational databases
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in "STEM" field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) plus 4 years of experience in data analytics
At least 1 year of experience working with AWS
At least 1 year of experience managing people
At least 5 years' experience in Python, Scala, or R for large scale data analysis
At least 5 years' experience with machine learning

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $234,700 - $267,900 for Sr Mgr, Data ScienceCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
