Your Specific Responsibilities:

The position of clinic Sr. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is under the direct supervision of the Sr. Community Health Nursing Director.


The incumbent provides nursing services for clients in the Primary Care, Family Planning (FP), Tuberculosis (TB), Adult and Child Immunization, and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) clinic.  This position is classified as a sensitive position.  The Sr. LPN handles protected health information on a need-to-know basis following Department of Health, HIPAA and Information Security and privacy policy.  The incumbent has access to the following sets of confidential information: CHD client medical records and the Health Management System. The nurse will assist the RN, APRN and MD with monitoring and managing the clinic area, conducting patient appointments in the clinic, field visits, as well as the medical mobile unit. The incumbent will provide first aid, assist with prescription and non-prescription medications (within scope of practice), and assist with procedures.

 

This position obtains and documents necessary intake information including vital signs in a verbal, written, and electronic format to the RN, APRN, and MD. This position will also perform venipuncture with the appropriate collection equipment/device for the purpose of blood sampling and specimen collection and process specimen for delivery to lab sites. This position will perform clinic services as directed by the RN, APRN, and MD. The incumbent will assist with clinic inventory and mobile unit inventory which includes checking inventory logs and ensuring clinic rooms are stocked with necessary supplies. The Sr. LPN will assist with inventory counts of medications and vaccinations. This position assists with clerical duties such as recording and reports, processing referrals and follow-up activities, and making phone calls to clients and other healthcare providers.

 

The Sr. LPN attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and in-service programs pertinent for updates. The incumbent will accurately complete leave and attendance by coding EAR's and completion of timesheets, as well as all other duties as directed by the RN, APRN and MD.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques. 
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. 
Skill in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in providing nursing care. 
Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity. 
Ability to administer medications. 
Ability to work with patients. 
Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum - Licensure as a PRACTICAL NURSE in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27 and one year of experience in providing practical nursing services.

 

Preferred - Current BLS Certification.
