Senior Interior Designer
The role of a Senior Interior Designer is integral to the success of our interior design projects. SDs are well-rounded individual who haave both the ability and experience to work from the concept phase through execution and installation. Senior Designers will implement their project management and design skills. They will be able to take ownership of the projects they are working on, while still being guided by the Studio Leader and Principal. SD’s will guide their team through the design process, reviewing CAD drawings, and spear-heading the project planning. They will participate throughout the construction phase to ensure the design intent is realized. It is imperative that Senior Interior Designers be skilled planners, with the growing ability to anticipate roadblocks and to propel projects forward. To be successful in this position, an SD must have a positive, can-do attitude. To sum it all up, you are a stellar multitasker and excellent planner with the ability to guide your team to success!
Required Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design
- 7-10 years’ experience in residential Interior Design and project management
- High level of knowledge of the interior design market and FF&E
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft office
- Proficient in related design software, such as Photoshop Sketch Up
- Knowledge of furniture specifications
- Must be able to commute to office
Required Skillset
- Developed, bespoke, and innovative design sense
- Strong understanding of construction process
- Strong understanding of different trades, how they interact, and the order of operations when multiple trades are involved
- Proven aptitude to lead a job-site meeting with multiple stakeholders (eg. contractors, sub-contractors, clients, junior designers)
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Consistently poised and timely customer service

Responsibilities
Design
Senior Interior Designers will contribute significantly to the design of each project they are assigned to. They will do this by developing design concepts from initiation through completion, evaluating floorplans, developing furniture plans, and refining/elevating design details. SDs will attend shopping visits at the D&D, slab shopping and be expected to contribute thoughtful input. They will review and mark up renderings, approve design presentations, and develop their skills of “closing the deal” with the client regarding design concepts.
Project Management
Senior Designers will manage the communications and customer service experience with the client, come highly prepared to each design meeting (both internal and client facing). They must lead site visits with vendors and contractors, coordinate with the GC, approve proposals, and purchase orders, and review quotes and pricing. They will also ensure that reports are sourcing within budget and oversee the client sign off process. They will set deadlines for their direct reports and ensure they are met.
Leadership
Senior Interior Designers will continuously mentor their team. They will oversee Junior Designers and Drafters selections and contributions to the design concept, guiding them along the way. They will review, red-line and train support staff on required drawings. They will help their team learn how to plan efficiently, be organized, anticipate issues, and complete projects.
