Title: Senior Inspection Technician
Reports to: Vision and Inspection Service Manager
Job Summary: This position will serve as an experienced Inspection Technician in our inspection lab. This person will work with an array of inspection equipment including CMMs, Vision Systems, 3D Scanners, and Surface Finish and Form equipment. The ability to analyze a part drawing and understand the GD&T involved to utilize the correct equipment and applicable software will be a requirement. This is a commercial inspection facility meaning this position will enjoy working new challenges with a variety of different types of parts and industries from automotive and aerospace, to medical devices, and everything in between. This position will support current business needs as well as supporting the department’s technical and growth based needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to work across and program various inspection equipment and metrology software including but not limited to CMMs, Video Machines, Comparators, roughness and roundness machines, and portable CMMs
Assist with training of fellow Cross associates as well as customers
Support Sales efforts through quoting or demonstrations
Support quality audits both internally and from customers
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
Extensive experience programming, operating, and troubleshooting various inspection equipment including at a minimum CMMs
Ability to read blueprints and comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to perform CAD based 3D inspections and nominal comparisons
Ability to multitask and work in high pressure situations under deadlines
5+ years’ Automotive, Aerospace, or medical device industry experience preferred
Understanding of statistics including capability studies and Gage R&R
Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
A commitment to world class customer service
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Must be organized and capable of working independently
Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Physical and Mental Requirements:
The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to speak, write, and utilize a PC effectively, particularly be able to navigate Excel for reporting.
The ability to drive up to 8 hours at a time
The ability to travel via plane as needed
The ability to navigate in an industrial environment
Must be able to walk, talk, hear, sit, stand, use hands repetitively
Lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls less than 100 pounds but greater than 25 pounds occasionally
Reaches out and overhead
