The HVAC Shop is responsible for the installation, construction, repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of HVAC mechanical fixtures, piping, and equipment, which involves the general and comprehensive responsibility for its efficient functioning; does related work as required.
Under the direction of the Supervisor of HVAC, the Senior HVAC Technician performs varied types of mechanical work involving the installation, repair, adjustment and maintenance of heating, air conditioning, and refrigerant systems and related parts and equipment of said systems. The selected candidate should be Knowledgeable of the methods and problems involved in inspecting, repairing, installing and maintaining all types of HVAC equipment and/or systems, including those served by central chilled water and steam.
Main Responsibilities:Licenses: Possession of a valid driver's license in good standingand a valid Universal Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification, issued under the authority of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, Section 608.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in work involving the installation, inspection, repair, maintenance, and operation of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, machinery, diesel generators, and auxiliary equipment including welding, piping, and insulation.
Provisional Note: This position is in the classified (career) service. Applicants selected from this recruitment will be appointed provisionally at this time. Applicants applying for this position must also apply for the New Jersey Civil Service Commission announcement at a later time and be reachable on the resulting eligible list for this location. Appointees who fail to be reachable on the resulting eligible list may be subject to separation from their provisional title. Upon/if becoming permanent in the position, is contingent upon the successful completion of a four-month probationary period.
