The Senior Housekeeping Manager is responsible for assisting the operations of the Housekeeping Department in an attentive, friendly, efficient and courteous manner, providing all guests with quality service and a clean and safe environment throughout their stay, while efficiently managing expenses and maximizing service levels.

Job Description:

  • Follow payroll and key procedures.
  • Collect room and floor status report sheets for assigned work areas and assign rooms to Housekeepers as needed.
  • Coordinate with and assist the Front Desk and Food and Beverage teams.
  • Train housekeeping employees to achieve the standards of cleanliness in guest rooms.
  • Assist in reviewing Housekeeping staff's worked hours for payroll compilation and submit to Accounting on a timely basis.
  • Assist in preparing employee Schedules according to business forecast, payroll budget guidelines, and productivity requirements.
  • Work with Human Resources to draft and present disciplinary actions and counseling to staff when needed.
  • Provide exceptional guest service.
  • Inspect guest rooms, including VIP, vacant, occupied and check-out rooms, to ensure the standards are being achieved by each employee.
  • Monitor the performance of floor house persons so there are sufficient supplies on the guest floor and the hallways, stairwells, elevator, service area, and guest room doors, tracks linen closets and armoires are maintained according to standards.
  • Interpret all departmental policies, procedures and established standards.
  • Coordinate work orders in assigned areas and follow up on inspections.
  • Monitor and direct progress of housekeepers and house persons in rooms that are undergoing deep cleaning.
  • Lead department meetings.
  • Make sure floor storage areas and closets are kept in an orderly and clean fashion.
  • Visiting off-site storage facility and offices to conduct inventory, organize and retrieve or store items.
  • The ability to inspect armoires to ensure all items are stocked in an orderly fashion and in sufficient quantities.
  • Handle all lost and found items according to the procedure.

Requirements: The ideal candidate for this job should have:

  • 3 years of experience in luxury hotels.
  • A strong understanding of operational controls, budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train and develop team members.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Computer skills.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
