Your Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

This position participates in health education activities related sexually transmitted diseases and infections and treatment to include PrEP and nPEP in Area 4 which includes Duval, Baker, Cal, Nassau, and St Johns counties.

  • Conduct evidenced-based health education sessions to HIV positive persons and their partners on topics related to PREP, NPEP, Test and Treat navigation and field testing for Syphilis and HIV, or other bacterial, biological, or viral agents.
  • Provides Medication Adherence Counseling.
  • Assists the client with physician instructions and compliance.
  • Performs patient care services such as monitoring patients for medication side effects, contra-indications, and non-compliance to prevent disease progression.
  • Provides family and patient education regarding the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS.
  • Makes referrals to case management, financial, and mental health counseling.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of surveillance systems, research methodology, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries and disease.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to implement practices.
  • Ability to gather information for decision-making.

 

Qualifications:

  • Complete 500/501 HIV Counseling and Testing class within 3 months of hire.
  • A current and valid driver’s license.
