General Description
Lake County is seeking an experienced, dedicated professional who is passionate about affordable housing and operational excellence to fill its Senior Grant Administrator position. Reporting to the Community Development Administrator, the Grant Administrator will be responsible for administration of housing grants, evaluation of funding applications, the provision of technical assistance to grantees and grant applicants, program and project management/financial record keeping, and monitoring of grantee performance.
The role requires a highly organized individual with strong attention to detail, sense of urgency and ability to multi-task. The ideal candidate must be proactive, thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced office and have a degree with major course work in social work, human services, public administration or a closely related field. The principal duties of this position are performed in a general office environment. This is a grant funded position; continued employment is contingent on continued funding.
Essential Functions
- Strong management and communication skills needed.
- Demonstrated knowledge (and understanding) of community development principles and practices of urban/regional planning, community development, or public administration, affordable housing financing and development, and housing and community development programs and resources.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and federal legislation affecting community development and housing. Good knowledge of the principles and practices of program/project management and administration.
- Excellent communication skills as shown by the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, community and public officials, State and Federal agency representatives, and members of the public.
- Ability to prepare and review complex studies and reports.
- Strong research and analytical abilities essential, as are excellent computer skills.
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with little direction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work positively and professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to be resourceful and creatively problem solve.
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree in related field preferred or minimum of 2 years experience working within in affordable housing initiatives.
