Job Summary The Senior Food Technologist is responsible for leading development of new confectionery products and demonstrates a profound understanding of both chemical and physical properties of all ingredients. The incumbent will also act as a conduit to cross functional teams including but not limited to quality and manufacturing. Essential Task, Duties and Responsibilities Lead and assist physical development of new projects with research and recommendations from a food science standpoint.

Manage internal sensory assessments to determine product acceptability, providing summary and recommendations. Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality and Manufacturing departments to determine manufacturing feasibilities and assist wherever necessary. Conduct consistent and comprehensive audits to correct non-conformities across employees, shifts, and manufacturing locations.

Manage shelf-life testing of both finished products and ingredients. Responsible for monitoring and validating the manufacturing process of pilot batches to ensure optimal scalability and quality. Responsible for cost optimization, while concurrently not deviating from the company's objectives.

Demonstrates exceptional documentation practices Manages staff compliance of company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Time & Attendance, Employee Relations, Performance Management, and Safety and provides recommendation for any necessary personnel action Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be age 21 or over - California residency with valid ID is required 1+ years of experience researching, developing, and creating new products strongly preferred. Must have a food science background - confectionery science is preferred. Great communication skills, positive attitude, trustworthy, dependable, accountable, motivating, able to delegate, able to receive constructive criticism.

Strong attention to detail, time management, multitasking, and organizational skills are required as well. Attention to detail, good attitude, and dependability. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment Must be able to travel, if necessary Experience in manufacturing ERP is preferred Internal candidates must be in their current role for at least 1 year for consideration.

Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Food/Confectionery Science or related field strongly preferred. Chocolate and/or Gummy experience and familiarity are also a strong pro. Involvement with focus groups for product launches preferred.

Cannabis industry knowledge a plus.
