Duties/Responsibilities:
Repairs of Commercial Fire Alarm, Security Systems, CCTV, Access Control, or related equipment:
- Troubleshoot, inspect, program, components, equipment, or systems
- Communicate with the customer before, during, and after the inspection
- Properly fill out and submit service call paperwork before leaving the site
Advanced Troubleshooting skills related to low voltage systems:
- Repair fire/Security Alarm system circuits or components for proper functioning
- Complete understanding of fire/Security Alarm system circuits and how they operate
- Examine systems to locate problems, such as ground faults, opens, or shorts
- Ability to troubleshoot any system to diagnose issues
Advanced system programming skills:
- Ability to program all standard equipment that Optimum Fire & Security uses daily without assistance. (Training will be provided)
- Ability to understand basic programming on most systems in the fire alarm, security, CCTV, & access control systems
- Ability to troubleshoot most programming issues
Good communication skills with customers and other staff members:
- Ability to communicate effectively with customer plans of action
- Ability to communicate the status of the job to the appropriate supervisor
- Ability to fill out and properly submit work orders and service tickets
Other duties:
- Perform all duties related to the Service Technician position
- Respond to emergency service calls
- Performs other related duties as required
- On-call Service Technician per schedule
- Maintain proper timesheets and clock-ins
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational/technical/ school training is highly preferred; on-the-job training may be provided
- Minimum of two years of related experience in the low-voltage realm
- NICET Level 2 Fire Alarm required (ability to gain certification within 6 months of hire) or equivalent trade-specific training equating to the same criteria of NICET
- Factory training on most basic systems used by Optimum is to be provided
- Additional certifications or training in the low-voltage realm are preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders
- Physically able to install system hardware and wiring
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
Travel Requirements:
- Daily travel in southeastern NC
- Some travel (25%<) outside of southeastern NC
- Overnight stays are rare
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
