Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Senior Financial Analyst to support our Finance Department.
The Senior Financial Analyst will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
We are seeking a talented individual to join HCZ’s finance team. This individual will join as a Senior Financial Analyst assisting in budget development, financial management, forecasting, and analytics. This position will also work closely with senior-level staff, with exposure to the CFO.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, information systems or other quantitative discipline.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in corporate financial planning including planning, budget management and variance analytics.
Who You Are
- Strong familiarity with ERP systems, non-profit accounting, and Excel
- Detail-oriented self-starter, with the initiative to drive projects to conclusion timely
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to balance business partnership with accountability and create rapport with non-financial colleagues.
What You’ll Do
- Assist the Director of Financial Planning and Analytics in maintaining financial models and preparing budgets and forecasts
- Prepare regular financial reports and ad-hoc reports including variance analysis
- Assist with preparation of management presentations for board meetings and executive leadership
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to identified issues and/or areas for improvement; develop relevant financial analyses to address identified issues
- Support KPI dashboard creation and management processes
- Identify, recommend and implement process improvements
- Proactively share insights with accounting to support the closing process and grants management
- Collaborate and communicate with finance partners across HCZ
- Perform other duties as assigned
