Yorktel is currently seeking a Senior Field Engineer who will have several higher-level responsibilities including mentoring other technicians and engineers. They will perform and document quality control (QC) measures and protocols including workmanship inspections and assist with evaluations of the staff members. They will oversee device and network performance and assure problems are captured, corrected, and reported on.
The Senior Field Engineer needs to have experience with video and audio transmissions, and distant learning technology. The need to be able to mentor other engineers in the day-to-day operation to assure that each of these engineers stays up with the technology which is ever changing.
Technical Responsibilities:
The position is for a higher tier technical person that knows and understands all facets of the technologies. The need to be able to evaluate new products, work with technical support personnel from the manufacturer, mentor other lower tiered technical personnel and be able to explain in layman’s terms problems and planned solutions to the customer/COR.
- Manage the configuration, upgrade, and troubleshooting of all devices within the contract.
- Perform pre-installation set up and testing; post installation calibration and commissioning; technical support for lower-level engineers.
- Need to perform testing in agency provided facilities. Testing and implementation may require labor outside of normal business hours or days in tandem with other engineers and agency staff.
- Provide comprehensive technical design, technical drafting, technical documentation, and technical support for project management.
- Develop test plans including post test results.
- Coordinate and conduct testing.

- Domestic travel requiring multi-night stays within and at times outside the local work area.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Requires extensive sitting, standing, and walking.
- Must be willing to apply for and receive Client Suitability Clearance
- Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts.
Other Qualifications:
- Must have experience in both unicast and multicast video delivery deployment and troubleshooting.
- Must understand large scale on-promise web conferencing technologies.
- Must have experience installing, configuring, and tuning SQL databases.
- Understanding of basic core networking and deployment, which includes switch and router configuration, firewalls, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of basic server support, which includes VMware, Windows Server, active directory, and load balancing technologies.
