Another Source’s client, UC Riverside, is recruiting a Senior Executive Director of Philanthropy for STEM Programs in Riverside, CA. This is your chance to join the newest member of the Association of American Universities, which is comprised of the country’s leading research universities! This is a hybrid role with the opportunity to work remotely 2 days per week, with the expectation to travel locally and statewide, as needed.

Salary: The anticipated salary for this role is $150,000 - $180,000 depending on experience.

About the Role:  

Under the leadership and supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Development (AVCD), the Senior Executive Director of Philanthropis a critical role for the success of Development and serves on the AVCD's senior development leadership team. The incumbent will oversee development officers around the campus, forming a hybrid centralized/decentralized development team that works closely with the Deans and faculty to identify opportunities for private support. In conjunction with the AVCD, the SED will help to create a holistic, strategic and thoughtful approach to the development operation. The incumbent will supervise senior director-level development positions in School of Business (SOB), College of Engineering (BCOE), College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS), and School of Medicine (SOM) to set priorities, annual goals, and staff performance metrics required to meet long-term university-wide, college, and school objectives. The SED will foster a culture of accountability around metrics and develop strategies to build fundraising capacity. The incumbent will hold a portfolio and will be expected to fundraise at minimum $1M annually. 

 

Breakdown of the role:  

  • 20% Manages a staff comprised of several professionals and related administrative support staff. 
  • 15% May oversee and manage the identification, cultivation and solicitation of donors and donor prospects 
  • 15% Selects, trains, mentors, guides, and directs staff, and, as required, takes corrective action. 
  • 10% Conceives, creates, develops, implements, evaluates and manages development programs and strategies to meet predetermined goals and objectives, and ensures that predetermined goals are met. 
  • 10% Attend university events; may/often occur evenings, weekends, off-site. Travel as appropriate to represent the university and support fundraising efforts. 
  • 10% Work with the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and development leadership team to develop a strategy for the colleges and schools in portfolio including comprehensive campaign planning. 
  • 10% Conducts and participates in long and short-range strategic planning. 
  • 10% Manages a moderately complex fundraising program, comprised of the full range of development programs and includes responsibility for other external relations functions, such as events, volunteer coordination and management, donor relations and stewardship, and other marketing related activities. 

 

 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training 
  • 8 - 13 years of related experience 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of five years demonstrated fundraising or similar leadership experience in a higher education institution. 
  • Previous supervisory/managerial experience.
