The Senior Executive Director of Camping & Outdoor Leadership, reporting to the VP Youth Development, works collaboratively to execute organizational strategy and vision in youth development and outdoor access both internally and externally. The Senior Executive Director works to position YGS and the program locations as an outdoor thought leader on equity, social responsibility and justice, youth development, and whole person health.
In close partnership with the Youth Development leadership team, the Senior Executive Director is responsible for assisting in developing shared outcomes and goals for the successful management of the operations of the assigned areas including but not limited to Camp Colman, Camp Orkila, Outdoor Leadership, and Mineral Lake.
The position is responsible for program quality and delivery, fiscal management, philanthropy, advisory board development, and community outreach for their assigned program areas in conjunction with the corresponding YGS Centers of Excellence (CoE). The Senior Executive Director will be comfortable motivating, communicating, and influencing at all levels and in a multitude of environments with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Hiring Range: $125,000-$135,000/Year

Responsibilities
What you'll be doing
• Leads and engages teams to provide an exceptional experience that encompasses the Y's mission, commitment to equity and inclusion, and centered around creating a holistic experience for youth.
• Responsible to lead and provide direction to assigned leaders by providing clear direction, coaching & feedback, performance management, professional development, and fostering a healthy and welcoming environment.
• Learn, practice, and model behaviors that promote an anti-racist learning leader including ongoing self-development, using the lens of equity, inclusion, belonging and restorative practices in everything we do and everywhere we are.
• Staff liaison with the Camping & Outdoor Leadership Advisory Board responsible to identify community needs, help secure resources necessary to deliver programs and services, and advance the Y's mission and commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice. Clarifies and reinforces the division of roles and responsibilities between corporate boards, management or advisory boards, staff, and general volunteers.
• Work in partnership with Financial Development department to cultivate and steward donor relationships, implement annual philanthropy plan, and achieve annual goals, capital campaigns, and endowment strategies.
• Develop and manage operational annual plans/budgets centered in sustainability and growth to meet annual goals including youth development outcomes, staff retention and progression, fiduciary, and philanthropic targets.
• Develop a cohesive and healthy work environment, centered in a sense of belonging, where staff feel safe to show up as their authentic selves. This includes clear expectations, high level communications, professional development, feedback & coaching, and performance management.
• Ensure all areas, facilities, and properties operate using consistent, safe and high-quality standards focused on progressive outdoor experiences.
• Foster positive, effective working relationships with other organizations, school districts, businesses, and governmental agencies in the service delivery area in coordination with colleagues for a One Y approach.
• Set up and model collaborative behaviors with other departments towards shared common goals.
• Serves as a member of assigned Association, branch groups and committees to support the overall objectives of the organization.

Qualifications
What we're looking for in an applicant
• Relevant professional experience and/or bachelor's degree in camping, outdoor education, human services, or related field.
• Ten or more years of experience in a variety of YMCA operations or related activities including program development, financial development, budgeting and financial management, board development and staff management.
• Proven successful experience with board development, financial development and broadening an organization's reach into underserved communities.
• Commitment to removing institutional and systemic barriers that result in oppression and racism.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborations with diverse organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a strategy and implement through change management.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree
• YMCA Multi-Team or Organizational Leader certification
• Experience with anti-racism practices and coalition building.
• Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
• Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Travel
Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
