Senior Estimator

S.J. Amoroso Construction Co., LLC is seeking a qualified Senior Estimator to join our team in Costa Mesa, CA. Under the direction of, and working alongside the Chief Estimator, the Senior Estimator will provide lead and supporting estimating services, as well as leadership for the department. This candidate has the experience and ability to work on public work hard bid projects and best value type projects that involve both estimating and technical proposals.

Essential Functions and Conditions

• Review and evaluate project plans, requirements, and specifications.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and related pricing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of unit costs and production rates for self-performed tasks (concrete and carpentry).
  • Generate scopes and bid packages for all trades.
• Prepare preliminary project schedules for bidding purposes.
  • Assist in preparation of schedule and logistic plans for RFP technical proposals.
  • Support field management teams in preparation for presentations with regard to project challenges, including scope and logistics.
• Ability to work with schematic and design development documents in design-build pursuits.
• Work with the Chief Estimator to review, evaluate, and implement department policies and procedures.
• Assist the Chief Estimator in reviewing work products of other estimators.
• Mentoring and training within the department.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Actively engage in subcontractor bid solicitation process.
• Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors for specified materials, products, and scopes of work, identifying qualified subcontractors.
• Analyze subcontractor proposals for scope and price.
• Attend project site pre-bid meetings and site tours.
• Prepare project bid summaries including trades and scopes.

Requirements

• At least ten (10) years of estimating experience including lump sum public works projects.
• Strong verbal and communication skills.
• Preconstruction and alternative delivery method experience preferred
