Senior Esg Strategist

ADEC Innovations works with clients worldwide, ranging from Fortune 500 and ASX companies to small privately held Tier 3 suppliers, providing full-service sustainability support services. Our distinct ‘data-insights-action’ approach helps companies uncover and collect valuable corporate operations and supply chain data and use it to build effective ESG programs. As ESG requirements become more rigorous and demand additional elements such as target setting, risk assessments, strategy identification, detailed implementation plans, and performance monitoring, strong data foundations are essential. The ADECi team successfully helps our clients incorporate high-quality data, robust analysis, and straightforward processes throughout all steps of their ESG journeys.

Working directly with the ESG Directors Team and ESG Manager for the Australian office, the Senior ESG Strategist (CG08) will work to develop and implement our strategy for growth. This role will be responsible for existing client services expansion and will work to identify, qualify, and generate ESG opportunities with existing clients. With support from our marketing team, they will also be responsible for cross-selling ESG service offerings to new and existing clients.

As part of the ESG team, you will be expected to lead projects as a technical and subject expert, and to think strategically and creatively about the clients’ corporate context and sustainability challenges. This individual will apply knowledge about energy, emissions, water, waste, and other CSR topics to the myriad of topics and projects we work on. The Senior Strategist will be responsible for ensuring the alignment of expectations between the ADEC technical team and the client, managing workload and schedules to meet project deadlines, and most importantly, growing our relationships with clients. The role will also contribute to the management and training of the global team of sustainability professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Experience leading business development efforts and client relationship management
• Experience implementing disclosure and sustainability frameworks such as CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD, Integrated Reporting, UN SDGs
• Experience with GHG emission calculations and/or verification, ideally with a certification in at least one protocol
• Experience and proven success in managing ESG or similar projects with multiple clients
• Proven experience in effectively managing project-assigned staff at different levels of the organization to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget
• Experience developing scopes of work and budgets for proposals

• Track record of managing and developing relationships with clients – the Ability to listen, adapt, and solve
• Advanced project management and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, including solid telephone, and written skills
• Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
• Strong data analysis and research skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing workload to meet multiple deadlines in a calm, methodical manner
• Fluent in the English language (spoken and written). Fluent in a second language is a plus.

Education and Experience

• Advanced degree in Business, Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, or related discipline – or equivalent combination of education and Experience
• 10+ years of sustainability and business development Experience
• Climate Active registered consultant
• Working knowledge of sustainability indices including, but not limited to EcoVadis, ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics, and DJSI
• Extensive CDP methodology experience (either scoring or completing disclosures) is highly desired
• Experience in the technical analyses of energy, waste, water, or other resource areas as it relates to resource management, cost savings, or data management
• Comprehensive knowledge in business development for new as well as existing clients

Work Environment: Fast-paced and collaborative work environment. The position is based in ADEC’s Sydney, Australia office (Frenchs Forest), but the team works on a hybrid model. Office attendance at least twice per week is preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend extended periods of time in front of a computer and/or laptop. The employee is required to have hand/finger dexterity. This role will regularly require to talk and hear; will be expected to spend extensive time speaking with clients, staff, and vendors through phone and online programs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 Compensation is experience-dependent.
