Our Company: InterAgency is a minority-owned DC-based small business with an outsized presence in the Nation’s Capital. Over the course of our 12-year history, InterAgency has provided environmental and regulatory consulting on billion-dollar tunnels to prevent flooding and improve water quality, seawalls to combat sea level rise, transportation infrastructure to electrify bus transit, and social justice programs to provide equitable access to clean drinking water. We are experts in planning and implementing large-scale public infrastructure.
Description: InterAgency is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner/NEPA Specialist to join our growing environmental practice. The successful candidate will work alongside executive environmental staff, collaborating on climate-change initiatives in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.
Projects will range from preliminary planning to implementation and include the following:
  • Subsurface infrastructure to mitigate flooding impacts.
  • Large diameter tunnels to remediate combined sewer overflows (CSOs).
  • Redesign of existing sea walls to address sea level rise.
  • Bridge construction over navigable waterways.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, or Natural Resources Management.
  • Experience: 10+ years’ experience in environmental consulting with 5+ years focused on NEPA.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, or Natural Resources.
  • Experience with large scale infrastructure implementation projects.
  • Clean Water Act experience.
  • Natural and cultural resource management and consultation.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing NEPA for major infrastructure and resiliency projects.
  • Preparing Clean Water Act permit applications.
  • Assisting with the development and negotiation of easements, rights-of-entry, and construction staging agreements.
  • Coordinating with Federal, State and Local regulators.
  • Facilitating clear communication between the project team and external parties.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Accurate and detailed daily timekeeping required.
  • Timely communication with clients.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation.
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Employment Conditions:
  • Type: Full-time employment.
  • Hybrid work arrangement: 2 days in-office/on-site.
  • Hours: regular business hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 PM (EST).

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Annual salary commensurate with experience.
  • Salary Range: $110,000-$140,000 commensurate with experience.
