BayLand Consultants & Designers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist/Planner to join our team in support of a growing workload in climate resiliency projects in marine, riverine, and upland environments. Responsibilities include technical report writing, assisting with preparation of grant applications, response to RFPs and RFQs, environmental permitting, and assisting with environmental field investigations relating to water resources projects. Other responsibilities will include GIS imagery/data acquisition and management, preparation of a diverse range of maps using ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD; and preparation of high-quality graphics for project reports and presentations.
Candidate must be an organized and motivated individual with strong technical writing capabilities and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with scientists and engineers. The candidate should have knowledge and/or experience in writing and applying for grants, proposal writing, environmental permitting and a basic understanding of coastal and/or ecological restoration.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or Environmental Policy
2 years relevant working experience or an advanced degree (MS) in a relevant subject
Strong technical writing skills and experience
Experience and ability to prepare and execute technical reports
Experience in either grant writing and/or preparing grant applications
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written with clients, regulators, public officials, and team members
Ability to service multiple teams, projects, and multiple in-house technical personnel
Experience in delivering high quality professional deliverables and exhibits
ArcMap/ArcGIS experience
Desired Skills
Familiarity with preparation of proposals and/or RFPs/RFQs
Experience with planning, permitting, or implementing ecological restoration projects.
Experience in preparation of monitoring reports
Tidal or non-tidal wetlands permitting and monitoring experience.
Experience with environmental field assessment
Ability to produce high quality GIS mapping
Familiarity with AutoCAD
