As a Senior Engineering Technologist (internally known as Senior Associate Technologist) at Caterpillar Inc. in Clayton, NC, you will play a pivotal role in the development and improvement of building construction product design. Collaborating closely with engineers and engineering teams, you’ll prioritize and schedule design machine builds, ensuring efficient project execution. Mentoring a team of Development/Research Technicians, you’ll provide leadership and direction to drive collective success. Your contributions will extend to creating new designs, resolving manufacturing, and engineering issues, and providing valuable feedback to enhance design acceptance and manufacturing readiness. Embracing innovation, you’ll spearhead the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and processes to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate product quality, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and professional development.

What You Will Do:

  • Partnering closely with engineers and the engineering team to spearhead the prioritization, scheduling, and execution of machine design builds, ensuring an engaging and collaborative environment for seamless project delivery.
  • Taking the helm in leading and guiding the work activities of 2-3 talented Development/Research Technicians, empowering them to flourish in their roles and fostering a supportive atmosphere of professional growth and achievement.
  • Playing a pivotal role in driving innovation by actively contributing to the creation of cutting-edge designs and swiftly resolving manufacturing and engineering challenges, while providing valuable feedback to Engineering for enhanced design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
  • Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, and computer-aided manufacturing software) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement, providing an opportunity to be at the forefront of technological advancement and innovation in the industry.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

  • Degree/experience: Degree in a technical curriculum OR demonstrated experience in a technical/manufacturing role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in effective communication , both verbal and written, to facilitate seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring clarity and alignment throughout the design and manufacturing process.
  • Strong aptitude in design for manufacturability, with a keen understanding of how design decision impact production processes and the ability to optimize designs for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving technical problems throughout the product development lifecycle, utilizing analytical thinking and problem-solving techniques to maintain project momentum and mitigate risks effectively.

Additional Info :

  • 10-15% domestic travel is expected
  • ISE assignments are not available.
