JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to an assigned Supervising Engineer. Performs highly advanced transportation, drainage, and land development engineering projects.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Performs highly advanced planning, engineering analysis and design of transportation, drainage, and land development projects
- Assists with training and development of engineering and planning staff and aids with training materials
- Assists with development of Division budget
- Compiles statistical data and prepares reports utilizing engineering studies
- Performs highly advanced and complex engineering analysis and design of hydraulic structures and conveyance systems
- Serves as department liaison for technical concerns for the public, Commissioners Court, contractors and internal and external department and agencies
- Prepares transportation engineering plans, specifications & estimates (PS&E)
- Analyzes and prepares floodplain and detention studies
- Monitors and supervises project quality control efforts and deliverables to ensure project is completed efficiently and effectively
- Oversees and manages a variety of project budgets, schedules, work plans and resource requirements for various construction projects
- Aids in the development and implementation of the Williamson County Long Range Transportation Plan
- Oversees the analysis of subdivision plats, construction plans, permits and compliance measures for various Land Development and Road and Bridge projects
- Aids with the implementation of subdivision regulation amendments
- Assists with coordination of safety projects
- Prepares technical correspondence to professional consultants, other governmental entities and the public
- Reviews Floodplain Development Permits, including interpreting flood studies and determining site-specific flood elevations
- Responds to drainage/floodplain complaints and coordinates with public to develop feasible solutions utilizing site visits, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and investigations
- Coordinates and prepares documents and updates for engineering meetings and public hearings
- Performs pavement field evaluations
- Identifies potential floodplain violations and collaborates with inspections on resolution
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Eight (8) years roadway geometric and drainage design experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and engineering development systems and software
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) Licensure
Required within thirty (30) days of employment
- Valid Texas driver's license
Required within six (6) months of employment
- Texas P.E. (Professional Engineer) Licensure within 6 months
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Ten (10) years of roadway geometric and drainage design experience
- Seven (7) years of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Floodplain Development experience including 3D flood modeling experience
- Four (4) years of pavement design experience
- Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
- Six (6) years traffic engineering experience
- CFM (Certified Floodplain Manager) Certification
