General Role Overview
At the heart of Fisker’s visionary product lies a state-of-the-art powertrain – and you can play a central role in its delivery.
The Powertrain Software team that you will be a part of will be responsible for the supervisory controller development including functional safety as well as benchmarking and characterization of competitor vehicles, dynamic modeling of Fisker products, powertrain performance test planning and execution.
The Senior Engineer, Powertrain Controls Software Architecture is expected to analyze the system function requirements, develop the powertrain control software requirements, define software functional and performance criteria, design the Software Architecture including the elements, interface, and dynamic behavior to meet the software functional and performance criteria.
Fisker is a fast-moving technologically focused startup, and in this context, you will need considerable flexibility and adaptability to deal with the rapidly developing requirements at the leading edge of EV powertrain implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze the powertrain system function requirements and define the software functions, interface, and performance targets.
Lead the Software Architecture design, including the high-level state machine for power-up / shut-down and power mode management and control functions.
Design key control flows, tasks scheduling and sequencing, working with platform software (BSW) to implement the design and develop testing procedures for verification to ensure the dynamic behavior and efficiency of the software.
Lead the development of software function validation and testing plan.
Develop the traceability of the software requirements to system function requirements and software components.
Develop software and system technical specifications.
Create AUTOSAR frameworks for application software components.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Master of Science is preferred.
6 to 8 years of experience developing control system functional specifications and designing model-based and code-based algorithms for Powertrain supervisory controller using MATLAB / Simulink.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies
Experience implementing software algorithms using AUTOSAR and Auto-Code generation tools and familiarity with the process to develop AUTOSAR workflows.
Experience importing / exporting ARXML files for AUTOSAR Classic / Adaptive.
Experience supporting the development of control system functional requirements.
Experience developing advanced control and diagnostic strategies for the powertrain system.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive platforms.
ARXML handling experience related to AUTOSAR Classic / Adaptive.
Familiarity with requirements management tools, DOORS, JAMA, etc.
Familiarity with ECU’s hardware abstraction layers and automotive diagnostics.
Experience in using software data management and distributed version control tool, such as Git.
Additional Requirements
Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required.
Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.

Expected Salary Range
$102,988 to $169,194 per year.
Additional Compensation
Salary is one part of total compensation which includes bonuses, equity awards as applicable, and benefits. An employee is eligible to participate in Fisker’s equity program, subject to the rules governing such programs.

The salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education/training, certifications, key skills, experience, internal peer equity as well as business considerations. Fisker reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position within the salary range listed, taking into account the wide variety of factors listed above.
