Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and leadership, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent through mentorship, and act as the point-of-contact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers.
- Provide technical oversight of the procurement and testing of Mechanical Components and electrical motors.
- Performance of fundamental engineering hand calculations and modeling.
- Preparing technical reports to internal and external customers.
- Prepare Dedication Specifications used for the Commercial Grade Dedication of components.
- Perform technical evaluation of Nonconformance Reports (NCR's)
- Interface with cross-functional teams and departments necessary to complete assigned system design activities.
- Improve areas of project execution and department management through lean methodology and Design to Cost principles.
- Provide clear and complete engineering documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
- Work closely with Sourcing and Suppliers to provide technical support.
- Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to increase overall knowledge while assuring a successful outcome.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
- At least 8 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity
Eligibility Requirements:
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
- Comfortable with less than 10% travel
Desired Qualifications:
- 5 years Experience with nuclear island and BOP plant systems and components
- Familiarity with Environmental and Seismic Qualification Nuclear Components
- Experience overseeing large AC induction motor maintenance and refurbishment.
- Familiarity with Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Flow, Heat Transfer, and Dynamic Analysis
- Problem analysis and resolution skills
- Strong networking skills to leverage internal and external expertise to support customer and internal needs.
- Demonstrated leadership in electrical motor design, manufacturing, and operation.
- Experience trouble shooting emergent Nuclear power plant motor issues
- Demonstrated leadership in mechanical component design including valves, pumps, motors, and heat exchangers.
- Familiarity with NEMA MG-1 and IEEE standards
- Familiarity with ASME B&PV Code Sections II, III, VIII, and XI
- Registered Professional Engineer,.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of highly experienced engineers performing complex engineering design and analyses.

- Experience with BWR technology, reactor internals, and support systems
- Knowledge of BWR system interfaces and how components affect these interfaces.
- Familiarity with testing of Components and materials

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business.
- Willingness to travel both foreign and domestic to customer plants and vendors.
The salary range for this position is $108k-145k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
