Job Responsibilities:
As a leader on our BTU Analytics team, the Senior Energy Analyst, already possesses an understanding of North America energy markets and is able to incorporate previously gained expertise into ideas for new areas of research and analysis. They participate in discussions with key stakeholders and managers regarding fundamental forecast modeling, recognize market trends, and are able to help develop models for forecasting market fundamentals. They can also communicate BTU Analytics' views to C-level executives both remotely and in-person.
Senior Energy Analysts are expected to manage research projects that will end up as featured analysis in our suite of products and contribute to the customized due diligence we perform to support industry M&A activity. A Senior Energy Analyst is expected to build relationships with our clients to learn about client needs as well as provide customer service that sets our analysis apart from the competition. They will also focus on enhancing model efficiency, transitioning models into other programs using Python and SQL, and carrying out data management tasks. These tasks could range from creating new datasets and tables from scratch to amending existing ones.
The knowledge base of our team grows from collaboration and shared experience, so regular, reliable attendance, a willingness to learn and to teach/mentor others is a key part of the role. Effective professional communication and maintaining healthy working relationships with co-workers as individual and team priorities shift is essential. Some travel is required. The right candidate will be comfortable with customer service in addition to all of the technical skills necessary to develop sound fundamental analysis.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3-5 years of previous experience in energy markets
- Experience with building models, analyzing markets, forecasting energy prices, and creating supply/demand balances
- Experience working with large datasets
- Experience c SQL, Python, or similar systems
- Basic mathematical and statistical analysis experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future
Competencies Desired:
- Experience analyzing natural gas markets, including pipeline flows, basis pricing, LNG exports, and industrial demand preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Proactive nature with willingness to learn
- Ability to think critically in a high-pressured environment
- Microsoft Office skills
- A "client-first" mentality
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, working independently and as part of a team
- Financial or economic knowledge/experience a plus
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, Economics, Petroleum Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or related field of study.
- Graduate Degree in Finance, Economics, Petroleum Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or related field of study a plus.

The budgeted amount range for this position in the State of Colorado is $75,000- $110,000.
