Senior Electrical Engineer
Department: Operations
Status: Exempt
Position Purpose:
Continually improve process, facility and human assets in a growing manufacturing operation. In addition to project assignments, the Electrical Engineer is on call to provide Level I troubleshooting support and knowledge transfer to the Maintenance and Production departments.
Principle Accountabilities:
•Support and promote safe working practices within the facility.
•Assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and responsible for equipment safety
•Maintain PLC Logic, HMI programs, and SCADA systems and documentation.
•Continuously educate and train Maintenance personal on electrical systems.
•Program new PLC ladder logic and supervisory control systems.
•Provide Electrical Engineering support on new equipment installations.
•Write specifications, review contracts, manage installations, develop electrical design drawings when needed, and provide start-up assistance
•Provides direction, coaching and training to Maintenance Technicians.
•Support the continuous improvement activities of the organization including to: participate in plant-wide improvement and team building activities and lead teams in area of expertise
•Review and approve proposals for new machinery.
•Estimate proposed projects and provide reports to management.
•Coordinate work of Maintenance Electricians and outside contractors.
•Other tasks as assigned by Engineering Manager.
Essential Skills and Experience
•Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
•Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment with experience leading electrical projects for both process and facilities and electrical design.
•National Electric Code (NEC) training and working knowledge.
•Must possess the ability to develop people (training, coaching, mentoring conflict resolution, decision-making and problem-solving).
•Mechanical/Electrical aptitude with the ability to grasp complex tasks easily.
•Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
•High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.
•Formal electrical safety training.
•Allen Bradley PLC programming (SLC, PLC-5, Logix 5000, MicroLogix, Panel View).
•HMI programming experience, Panel View, RS View, Intellution (iFIX) Enterprise level SCADA distributed control and data collection systems - Cimplicity, GE Proficy Suite , Wonderware.
•CAD and Solidworks experience preferred.
•AC/DC and servo drive experience
•Some robot programming experience
•Experience setting up industrial communication networks (Ethernet IP, DH+, DeviceNet)
