Job DescriptionThe Engineer designs creative solutions to answer our customers challenging motion and automation application needs. The role is actively involved in decision making and implementation of tasks in all lifecycle phases of our equipment, ranging from research and development topics of new product lines to updating and maintaining of our current product lines to obsolescence planning and modernization of legacy equipment in the field. This is a fast pace, dynamic and team centric work environment that requires self-motivation and independence paired with empowerment to be impactful for the organization and to meet our customer’s high expectations. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelops PLC and HMI software using Rockwell, Beckhoff, and Zenon.Develops multi-axis servo and VFD motion control applications.Develops software and wiring diagrams to implement machine safety functions through safety PLCs or monitoring safety relaysDesigns electrical schematics and panel layouts in AutoCAD Electrical and ePlan.Perform all necessary engineering and machine calculations for proper design of electrical and controls systems.Leverages SAP to document BOMs, maintain machine templates, and provide engineering change notices for customer ordersResearch and implement new technologies and/or methods pertaining to machine/motion control, Industrial IoT/I4.0 and any other areas that can help Syntegon continue leading the market by providing quality and cutting-edge solutions.Documents machine safety risks and reduction strategies through Risk Assessment.Creates Sistema reports to validate CAT3, PLd safety implementation.Responsible for peripheral equipment such as glue systems, vision systems, and date coders.Commissions and troubleshoots packaging machinery and packaging systems at Syntegon and/or customers sites.Documents project related material and supports publications in generating functional descriptionsContributes significantly to process improvement, design standardization, and quality.Provides phone and on-site technical support.Provides mentoring and training to team members.Leads projects when multiple engineers are working together.Supervises and supports the Electrical team when the Electrical Engineering Manager is not available.
