Job Description
Responsible for major electrical design determinations under the direction of the Project Manager. Support organization's mission and vision to meet company's objectives by providing exceptional client service.
Essential Functions
Responsible for overall electrical technical content of a project using engineering formulas and skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy.
Review design project for code compliance and perform code research as required to comply with applicable State, Local and Federal codes. Apply in depth knowledge of codes, including NEC, NFPA 72 and 101.
Monitor construction progress and C.A. correspondence to ensure accurate and timely responses to R.F.I.'s and related issues.
Review other teams design projects.
Participate in standards meetings within the Electrical Engineering discipline.
Identify and select equipment from appropriate manufacturing catalogs/websites for specific applications.
Collaborate with clients and clients' PMs to meet their objectives.
Perform on-site investigations and surveys prior to design.
Write electrical specifications through completion.
Coordinate the contract documents between engineering disciplines and architectural details; participate in coordination meetings with owner/architect.
Provide technical support to contractors throughout construction.
Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project.
Ensure timely delivery of all completed projects; meet project schedules set by the Project Manager.
Plan time of self and other Electrical Engineers/designers to ensure project is completed on time, on budget and is technically correct.
Act as technical advisor to junior staff regarding project assignments.
Perform design work using AutoCAD and Revit.
Present electrical design to owner/architect when required.
Serve as a field engineer during construction phase of a project.
Requirements
Electrical Engineer with minimum of 5 years of experience working with electrical systems.
BSEE or equivalent degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven design experience in the areas of building operation, energy use, and building electrical systems.
Must be able to use AutoCAD and Revit, for drafting and design to complete a project.
In depth knowledge of Electrical Engineering codes, including NEC, NFPA 72 and 101.
Must be able to travel and visit work sites as necessary to the job at the time convenient for the clients, contractors and building managers.
Maintain knowledge and skills in the particular area of expertise by attending conferences, reviewing scientific journals and participating in specific industry standards organizations such as NFPA, IES, etc.
