POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Economist will lead a team of analysts producing independent, data-driven economic research for institutional investors. Creativity, strong communication skills and openness to collaboration are paramount. The ideal candidate is an experienced economist, data scientist, or statistician who can conduct research, perform in-depth data analysis, develop and maintain models, and produce reports on macro-economic and market trends affecting the fixed income and credit markets.
Candidates should be self-starters with a strong attention to detail, able to quickly analyze markets independently, communicate well via written and spoken word, and operate in a team environment under time-sensitive deadlines. The individual should be intellectually curious and passionate about financial markets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Follow markets and market events closely, including central bank policies, economic indicators, debt issuance trends, fund flows and other related factors.
· Provide timely analysis to market and economic events, both internally and externally to clients.
· Ability to identify macro-economic trends through analysis
· Prepare visualizations that effectively communicate trends and predictions using relevant data and statistical software such as R, Python, Tableau or other relevant tools.
· Lead the analyst team and work with traders and sales people to service client needs.
SKILL-SET REQUIREMENTS
· Proven experience as an Economist.
· Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or other related field.
· Understanding of economic theories, principles, and methodologies.
· Knowledge of fixed income markets and bond valuations preferred.
· Familiarity with portfolio construction analytics and exposure to quantitative portfolio management.
· Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets at a high level.
· Can multi-task and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
· Proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, Julia, etc.) and charting software (Tableau)
