Trustmark is currently seeking a Senior Director, Tax to join the Legal team and work at our corporate office located in Lake Forest, IL. This is a hybrid work arrangement that requires 3 days in the office.
Overview
We have a leadership opportunity for a seasoned Tax Professional reporting to the Vice President, Tax. In this position, you will have an opportunity to develop and grow as a leader. You will work and mentor others in our Tax Department and have exposure to other areas throughout the enterprise.
This position will provide leadership and direction in various tax disciplines including federal tax compliance, tax accounting and reporting, tax research, tax controversy, and tax matters associated with acquisitions. This position will be primarily responsible for all Federal income tax matters including leading the quarterly and year-end tax accounting process. The position will be primarily responsible for managing tax audits. Finally, the position will interface regularly with Finance, Legal, and Strategic departments.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in all matters related to Federal income taxation.
- Manage the preparation of the consolidated income tax return for the enterprise.
- Mange the quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations including statutory footnote preparation.
- Participate in tax planning initiatives to determine the impact of new initiatives on operating strategies.
- Work with Corporate and business unit partners to develop plans that harmonize tax planning with Long-term business plans.
- Manage all tax audits, develop appropriate positions and strategies.
- Manage and develop tax personnel.
- Lead Premium Tax compliance process and other ad hoc tax department responsibilities.
Education and Experience
- Extensive Knowledge of Corporate Federal income taxation.
- ASC 740 experience.
- Financial services industry preferred.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and financial analysis skills required to convey the tax impacts of complex technical issues to nontax stakeholders.
- The ability to integrate strategic business objectives with overall tax strategies.
- Strong training and people development skills.
- Project management skills required.
- We prefer a CPA or CMA.
- 5-10 years tax experience in public accounting or in a mid to large sized corporate tax department.
