The anticipated hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000. A remote hire will be considered for this position and the hiring range is subject to change based upon the location of the successful candidate for this position. Hiring offers will be determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience. The recruiter can share more information about what the anticipated hiring salary would be based upon your specific qualifications during the selection process.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director - School of Graduate and Professional Studies will lead all administration and support operations for the Culinary Institute of America's (CIA's) School of Graduate and Professional Studies. The Senior Director oversees finance and budgeting, human resources, course implementation, operations management, student experience, and plays a key role in the overall strategic planning for the programs of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. The Senior Director facilitates direct communication and collaboration between the School and all CIA departments and divisions and works with the Office of the Vice President - Academic Affairs to coordinate and plan meetings and activities of the Graduate Studies Council.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In conjunction with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Provost, and other members of the Graduate Studies Council, participate in and assist with leading the continuing development and growth of the CIA's School of Graduate and Professional Studies. Oversee and participate in the development of all financial planning necessary to support the prudent management of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, including, but not limited to, preparation and approval of annual budgets, reports, staffing plans, capital budget requests, in accordance with CIA standards and protocols.
  • Lead in the identification, cultivation, hiring and supervision of team members to operate the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, and partner with the relevant School Dean(s) in the hiring and assignment of course faculty.
  • Assure compliance with CIA policies and standards in human resource operations. Facilitate human resources processes for both employees and contracted services.
  • Work with the Deans and appropriate staff members/contractors to coordinate curriculum design, development, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Deans and the Chief Information Officer, in accordance with the CIA IT Governance Structure, and assume responsibility for setting the technology strategy for the division. This includes the review of appropriate technologies, and integration of technology within CIA's overall technology infrastructure.
  • Along with the Senior Advisor and the Director of Assessment and Accreditation, assist with accreditation strategy and administrative implementation with CIA's accreditation.
  • Participate in the planning of communications, promotions, and marketing of all programs of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
  • Work with appropriate CIA Admissions staff and members of the Graduate Studies Council to review applicants for Master's degree programs.
  • In conjunction with appropriate CIA Admissions staff and members of the Graduate Studies Council, oversee student experience coordination.
  • Manage all School contracts and legal and insurance compliance with other CIA offices as appropriate.
  • Work directly with the Strategic Initiatives Group to identify and execute collaborative efforts in marketing and Intellectual Property cross utilization/integration, as appropriate.
  • Oversee the successful operation of the school to achieve financial and academic goals as agreed upon with the Graduate Studies Council and CIA leadership.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Master's Degree required.

Experience:
  • Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of progressively responsible leadership in the business or higher education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in the field of food or hospitality management.
  • Experience in sponsorship outreach, fundraising, corporate business development or related field.
  • Experience developing strategic business proposals and demonstrated proficiency in interacting and successfully conducting business development with mid- to senior-level corporate decision-makers.
  • Familiarity with the CIA, departments, administration, and operations processes.

  • Ability to plan, and organize effectively, in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to set priorities, influence others, and manage customer expectations.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with faculty development, and faculty recruitment and retention.
  • Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation, ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Success-oriented and goal-directed.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong commitment to hospitality and service.
  • Strong computer experience, which must include abilities to work effectively with MS Office suite products i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Able to travel periodically to any CIA campus and other locations due to business needs. International travel may be required.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
  • Regular work requires use of a computer for time periods in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
