Job description

The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of all marketing initiatives to elevate the mission of the JCC, drive growth, expand organizational impact, and support the JCC's overall strategies and objectives as defined by the Chief Advancement Officer. The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications will refine and enhance the brand, attract audiences, and build brand loyalty.

  • Develop innovative and responsive marketing strategies and oversee the execution of multi-pronged campaigns across channels including paid advertising, social media, email, events, partnerships, marketing automation, etc.
  • Develop a vision and strategy for successful communications that fulfills the overall goals of the JCC and each specific program within and establishing key messaging and consistency with JCC voice. Expand target audiences by constantly analyzing and responding to audience needs, motivations, and behaviors.
  • Contribute to marketing effectiveness by anticipating short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed, recommending options and courses of action, and testing and learning.
  • Support Executive Leadership team and program staff with communication strategies and execution including developing tactical communications plans, templates, guidelines, messaging, and surveys.
  • Use data-driven approaches to refine the JCC's marketing strategies including evaluating market data, tracking economic indicators including changes in supply and demand, researching industry trends, monitoring competition, applying best practices, and implementing applied learning from all initiatives.
  • Develop metrics and report on the effectiveness of Marketing campaigns using developed KPIs; leverage data being gathered to inform execution of the marketing strategy to ensure continued progress forward.
  • Partner with leadership team to identify and develop key areas of focus and cascading messages internally and externally.
  • Lead content creation to convey the impact of the organization's work and engage the audience.
  • Develop or support high-quality, compelling content including copy writing, graphic design, and videography for various channels.
  • Act as a steward of the JCC's reputation across all channels.
  • Build a strong culture of collaboration, trust, and credibility within the JCC.
  • Develop and maintain design standards to ensure consistency in branding and messaging.
  • Oversee and mentor marketing staff and coach team for maximum performance, leading by example.
  • Work with the CAO to manage the JCC's Marketing budget.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Six to eight years of Marketing experience and/or having held comparable position.
  • Experience leading the successful development of systems and processes to effectively and efficiently project manage competing marketing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content creation
  • Advanced analytical skills, high-level strategy development, problem solving skills (issue identification and prioritization), and effective communication skills, plus the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • Leadership experience that includes effective change management, vision setting, innovation, and setting clear priorities, goals, and roadmaps.
  • Be an innovator who takes appropriate business risks and responds thoughtfully to ideas and recommendations outside of core area of expertise; make decisions that balance a variety of factors (costs, risks, short-term vs. long-term impacts, etc.) to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Understanding and ability to work closely with lay leaders and members of the community.
  • Dedication to equity, diversity, environmental stewardship, and social justice.
  • Deep commitment to the mission of the JCC.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have experience with design-thinking practices, audience psychographics, and data analysis in addition to standard marketing knowledge and skills.
  • Experience in building and running an organizational digital transformation, advancing organizational strategy goals, and sustainable growth.
  • Knowledge of Judaism and/or previous experience working with the Jewish community

ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use tools to screen for abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision, training and feedback related to abuse risk
  • Respond quickly to policy violations using the JCC's procedures.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.

  • Marketing Team Members including a Digital Marketing Manager
  • Contracted Marketing Professionals

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate with others. In the office setting, this is primarily a sedentary role, which requires the employee to sit at a desk for consecutive hours at a time using a computer or other office equipment. Additional physical requirements include occasional bending, crouching, reaching and lifting.
