The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Facilities Operations leader with experience ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a complex nuclear, research and/or manufacturing facility.  This individual will direct all aspects of MURR Facilities Operations, establish and execute a vision of Facilities Operations excellence and maintain a strong facilities operational focus.  This is a position that prioritizes occupational and nuclear safety, engages and develops the workforce, creates an environment of teamwork, trust and cooperation, drives for sustainable results and builds technical and leadership capability throughout the Facilities Operations division.  This position will also ensure operational alignment with peer divisions within the organization in support of research, reactor operations and product/services goals.   The Senior Director of Facilities Operations position will report directly to the Executive Director of MURR. Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include

  • Oversee Facilities Operations division including engineering, maintenance,  drafting and design, skilled trades and custodial services.
  • Interface with University of Missouri support divisions including University Facility Operations, Parking and Transportation, Energy Management, and Landscape Services.
  • Interface with external contractors as necessary for new construction and major facility modifications.
  • Approve specifications for externally bid projects and construction work.
  • Ensure work performed by contractors is compliant with all contract documents.
  • Ensure needed services are supplied to internal customers.
  • Plan, track and prioritize facility projects and ensure clear and consistent communication with internal  stakeholders.
  • Ensure the highest standard for facilities appearance and cleanliness.
  • Establish strategic goals for the Facilities Operations division. Monitor progress through establishing and monitoring meaningful performance metrics.
  • Plan and direct Facilities Operations in a manner that supports organizational mission and priorities.
  • Serve as member of senior leadership team, providing input to operational and strategic activities in support of the MURR mission.
  • Develop workforce and staffing initiatives for the Facilities Operations to ensure timely and professional execution of division goals.
  • Embrace, demonstrate and lead for organizational culture goals, including regulatory goals such as a Safety Conscious Work Environment. Set expectations for civil, professional behavior in the division.
  • Actively pursue interdisciplinary collaboration and cooperation within MURR.
  • Develop and monitor annual divisional expense/revenue budgets.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance as applicable to Facilities Operations.
  • Maintain expert-level and current professional/industry knowledge in facilities i operations.
  • Effectively represent the organization in internal and external interactions and communications.
  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the organization and its divisions and mechanics.
  • Mentor and develop staff for succession and depth.
  • Commit to ongoing continuous improvement activities focused on efficiency and effectiveness of Facilities Operations.
  • Participate and represent MURR in industry organizations.

Salary

$103,000 - $222,818/year


Shift
M-F, 8:00-5:00+ evenings and weekends as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelors degree in related/relevant area and at least 8 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.


Preferred Qualifications
Strong nuclear sector leadership experience

  • Nuclear regulatory training and/or experience
  • Radiological leadership training and/or experience
  • FDA/GMP regulated facilities management experience
  • Strong ability to manage projects and teams
