Are you an experienced facilities management professional seeking a leadership role in a dynamic nonprofit organization? Vogel Alcove in Dallas, TX is hiring a Senior Director of Facilities Operations to lead strategic planning, management, and optimization of Facilities across multiple sites. The Senior Director of Facilities Operations will provide strategic direction, oversee operations, and ensure the highest standards of facility maintenance, safety, and functionality. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Senior Director of Facilities Operations will optimize facility operations to support the organization's mission. This position reports to the President/CEO and serves on the Executive Leadership team.

This is a full-time onsite position with a salary range of $75,000 - $110,000 per year based on education and experience.

Vogel Alcove is a well-established nonprofit organization located in Dallas with a history spanning over 36 years. Our core mission is centered around providing exceptional care and early childhood education for young children from homeless and domestic abuse shelters, all within our NAEYC accredited childcare facility. Our innovative approach works to support both children and their parents through a two-generation strategy, offering resources that set families on a path toward a brighter future.

What you’ll do

1. Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Provide visionary leadership to the Facilities Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish performance metrics and goals, monitor progress, and make data-driven decisions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Develop and manage the Facilities Operations budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.

2. Facility Operations Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple facilities, including maintenance, repairs, renovations, capital projects, and food service.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the long-term functionality and safety of Facilities.

  • Collaborate with site managers and other stakeholders to assess facility needs, prioritize projects, and allocate resources accordingly.

  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards

  • Monitor and analyze facility-related data to identify trends, address issues, and implement corrective actions.

3. Vendor and Contract Management:

  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to deliver high-quality facility services.

  • Develop and negotiate contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and maintenance agreements to ensure cost-effective and reliable support.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and audits of vendors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service standards.

  • Implement vendor selection processes and evaluate potential vendors for future partnerships.

4. Emergency Preparedness and Safety:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans for all facilities, including evacuation procedures, crisis response, and disaster recovery.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, fire codes, and relevant legal requirements

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to conduct routine safety inspections, train staff on safety protocols, and manage incidents as they arise.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, program managers, and support staff, to understand their facility needs and provide effective solutions.

  • Liaise with external partners, regulatory agencies, and community organizations to build strong relationships and stay informed of industry best practices.

  • Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and other forums related to facility operations and management.

What will make you successful in this role (skills)

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A relevant master's degree is preferred.

  • Proven experience (approximately 8+ years) in facilities management, preferably in a multi-site nonprofit or similar environment.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams

  • In-depth knowledge of facility operations, maintenance best practices, and regulatory compliance.

  • Demonstrated experience in budget management, cost control, and financial analysis.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in facility management software, computer-aided facility management (CAFM) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
