Summary: The SDGMIL provides leadership to the Global Medical Information and Learning and Development teams. This leader defines the strategic vision for GMIL, partners with functional leaders within Medical Affairs and is accountable for the execution of tactics aligned to medical, brand and corporate goals. Additionally, the Sr.

Director GMIL collaborates with functional leaders (information technology, regulatory, HEOR and Commercial) to establish best practices focused on providing a positive experience for the healthcare community as well as internal stakeholders. Daily, the SDGMIL leads their team to ensure systems and resources are in place to rapidly and compliantly provide access to scientifically rigorous materials designed to build expertise, educate, and support patient care. Mentoring and cultivating an environment conducive to professional growth and career satisfaction is essential for success in this role as is the ability to build productive relationships with the Brand Medical Directors, International Medical teams, and Field Medical Leadership.

Furthermore, developing strong relationships with counterparts in Development, Commercial, Regulatory, Safety, Legal Compliance and Health Outcomes functions focused on appropriately delivering Seagen therapies to patients is essential. Expertise in the principles governing compliant scientific exchange and adult learning is fundamental to this role. In addition, the SDGMIL will provide leadership in navigating relationships with our corporate partners and defining strategies to provide appropriate data packages to the healthcare community inclusive of payers, guidelines, and compendia.

Responsibilities: As a leader in a multifunctional, multi-product organization, direct the team while collaborating with core medical teams/leadership to advance Medical Information and Learning and Development aligned Medical Affairs vision and goals Establish long term plans and strategic vision for GMIL with particular focus on utilization and communication of data to relevant audiences Lead efforts focused on incorporating innovation into Seagen’s approach to providing Medical Information and educating while ensuring compliance with industry standards Provide leadership and coaching to multiple teams and team members to foster excellence in execution, professional growth, and overall career satisfaction Create team visibility and establish appropriate metrics to evaluate success Advocate for and secure budget for resources necessary for successful execution of team’s core functions Serve as a trusted advisor to the Medical Affairs Leadership Team Lead and coordinate assigned projects and related medical aspects Assure appropriate close coordination with Commercial and Marketing teams to support their efforts Other Competencies: Demonstrated passion for supporting HCPs and patients as they navigate healthcare and access to it Understanding of oncology and relevant disease states Strong leadership presence and the ability to work effectively with other clinical and scientific leaders Ability to manage external partners as well as engage the healthcare community A team player; works well in a team environment both as a leader and a contributor Open, engaging, and transparent. Also comfortable with conflict and able to push back when needed Global perspective and mindset; ability to work effectively with colleagues from myriad cultures, backgrounds, and geographies Qualifications: 12+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs function with Medical Information and Learning and Development experience Advanced degree with hematology-oncology background (PharmD, PhD, MD) Expert understanding of Medical Information and adult learning Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment Proven track record of effectively leading diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines Strategic thinking and prioritizing capacity Good analytic and synthetic capacity Excellent innovation and creativity Ability to work in an international matrix organization As the leading employer in our industry in the Pacific Northwest, Seagen is proud to offer a competitive total compensation package as well as a comprehensive benefits program designed to support the whole lives of our employees and their families. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
