GENERAL SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Finance provides strategic and execution leadership for all financial operations to ensure proactive financial management and analysis that supports ENA’s operations both long and short term. This role serves as the Association’s lead finance position responsible for highly complex areas such as budget, cash flow, financial forecasting, financial analysis, project management, investment priorities, risk management and overseeing the overall finance departments operations. This role is responsible for developing key strategies that support the Association’s growth and has extensive collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops long-term and short-term strategic financial plans and activities. Develops financial business plans, forecasts and financial analysis while maintaining the appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards and procedures.
  • Provides strategic direction for the development of the annual operating and capital budgets for all ENA entities, including ENA, the ENA Foundation and ENGAGE, Powered by ENA, ensuring collaboration with all stakeholders, prudent financial management and advancing organizational growth.
  • Provides guidance and direction to financial analysts as they lead regularly scheduled budget status meetings with appropriate operating and capital budget activity according to budget owner.
  • Strategically oversees the annual audits for ENA and ENAF and is responsible for tax returns and regulatory reporting. Including oversight of all compliance and recognition for government contracts and private grants.
  • Serves as primary financial lead pertaining to cash flow planning, ensuring availability of funds as needed. Provides strategic direction of cash, investment and asset management.
  • Proactively collaborates with department or division leaders to contribute financial analysis and expertise during the development of business or project plans to support the execution of our programs, products or sales strategies and advancement organizational growth.
  • Provides guidance to ENA state councils supporting their financial management requirements and ensures necessary compliance to maintain ENA’s group exemption status.
  • Partners with Human Resources to collaborate on financial planning and plan administration for the Association’s 401(k) plan, including primary contact with vendors, fund disbursement management and fiduciary responsibility.
  • Leads the pricing strategy when establishing new programs/products or revising content and recasting deliverables through a collaborative process with key stakeholders, including but not limited to market research, product development, and business development.
  • Prepares and monitors financial projections, identifying opportunities and gaps on an ongoing basis and provides projections organizational leaders.
  • Oversees preparation of monthly financial statements for all ENA entities, including ensuring regular reporting to the Board of Directors and key stakeholders. Serves as the primary staff liaison to the ENA Finance Committee.
  • Ensures the development, ongoing review and updating, and accountability of key accounting and financial policies and procedures.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff, including providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Empowers employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegates responsibility and expects accountable and regular feedback.
  • Collaborates with ENA Human Resources for the recruiting, onboarding, retention, professional development and performance management of staff.
  • Leads in a manner that is consistent with the association’s culture statement and emphasizes the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Displays a high level of accountability, taking responsibility for individual actions and the impact on the organization. Views oneself as a reflection of the organization by following through on commitments and accepting ownership.
  • Performs additional related duties as required or assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Association experience, not for profit, mission-based financial acumen
  • Significant experience (ideally 10+ years) in accounting, finance, grants administration, risk management, staff supervision, audit financial systems, budgeting, financial reporting, and board interactions
  • Progressive leadership experience within finance, with a minimum of 5 years demonstrated strategic leadership

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in related field.

  • Ability to exercise high level of creativity to balance growth, revenue, and proactive forecasting for workforce in a non-profit environment.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate and influence own team as well as across the organization.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an exchange of information; collect, compile and prepare work documents; set-up and maintain work files, participate in meetings. Use of the computer, with repetitive motion, is approximately 95%.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Majority of work is performed in a hybrid office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
