Responsibilities:
The role of the Senior Dialysis Technician encompasses all the responsibilities of the Dialysis Patient Care Technician and extends beyond to include monthly cultures, and oversight of all technical issues. Collaborating closely with both the Technical and Nursing Supervisors, the Senior Dialysis Technician ensures effective communication to enable swift and efficient problem-solving. In addition, the Senior Dialysis Technician is responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies.
To excel in this role, the Senior Dialysis Technician must possess a broad and deep understanding of the water purification methods, chemical disinfectants, and water quality testing. They must have the expertise to identify potential issues with the water system and respond quickly to take appropriate corrective action. They must also be well-versed in the regulatory requirements related to water treatment in a dialysis setting.
The Senior Dialysis Technician must possess exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively, even under pressure. They will cover for the Technical Supervisor in times of absence.
  • Organizes and monitors technician team functions.
  • Utilizes problem solving skills and serves as a role model for dialysis patient care technicians 100% of the time as monitored by other technicians and supervisors review.
  • Consistently schedules technical meetings on required months as per supervisor.
  • Consistently organizes, schedules or delegates water and dialysate culturing, AAMI analysis and LAL’s and other required tests as monitored by supervisor.
  • Consistently organizes, schedules or delegates preparations of acid concentrates.
  • Monitors performance of the technician staff provides feedback to the Technical Services Supervisor and Director and recommends corrective actions if required.
  • Participates in maintaining compliance with all regulations.
  • Participates in quarterly disinfection and assures water and dialysis equipment is in compliance with the regulations.
  • Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement process.
  • Performs role of Dialysis Patient Care Technician.
  • Consistently demonstrates technical competency as evidenced by cannulation skills, accurate machine settings, initiating and terminating treatments according to departmental protocols as monitored by the RN.
  • Consistently demonstrates good judgment and the ability to discern information that must be reported to the RN as monitored by the RN.
  • Consistently performs job responsibilities within specified boundaries. Seeks guidance as appropriate as monitored by the RN.
  • Participates in inventory control.
  • Consistently monitors usage and orders special order items within budget as monitored by supervisor.
  • Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Dialysis Patient Care Tech, required
License/ Certifications:
  • CCHT certification required within 18 months from date of hire
  • BLS certification within 6 months of hire, required
