Senior Decision Support Analyst
Position Summary
The Senior Decision Support Analyst identifies need for financial analysis and makes recommendations with clinical/financial data by utilizing expert knowledge of core financial Decision Support competencies. Conducts/leads operational finance support for Decision Support modalities such as forecast, budget, month end, productivity, benchmark, and reimbursement reporting. Possesses healthcare industry acumen that understands strategic, financial, and business development related opportunities to lead and support organizational, service line, and project specific business decisions.
Responsibilities
• Identifies, troubleshoots, and establishes plan of action for tactical Decision Support objectives to include analytics, proformas, system functional processing, and ad hoc reports
• Takes command of Decision Support modalities within purview to include mentoring others
• Serves as an operational partner to clinical leaders for all Decision Support activities that include forecast, budget, month end, productivity, benchmark, and reimbursement reporting
• Works with leaders to facilitate the annual budget process with areas of responsibility
• Conducts month end reporting; investigates financial data to extract cause and effect for variances identified in month end reporting and make recommendations to leaders
• Audits gross charging to identify anomalies on a per statistic basis
• May take part in strategic service line financial performance
• May be tasked with evaluating ROI for strategic capital acquisitions
• Complete most Ad-Hoc reports as required
• Fills in for teammates in the event of routine and unexpected absences
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in related field required; 4 years' healthcare data analytics experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
• Minimum 5 years' Decision Support, cost accounting, or finance/accounting experience, experience in healthcare field required in addition to education requirement
• Requires an analytical mind, strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, inquisitive questioning and ability to integrate data from multiple sources
• Ability to query and organize data from various financial and clinical systems
• Expert proficiency in computer software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office) and database applications required
• Intermediate knowledge of the healthcare industry (hospital, clinic, ambulatory, etc)
• Excellent communication skills to include written and oral required
