Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic and growing team. This role is a mix of DBA work, Data Engineering and BI Systems Administration work. In this position you will administer SQL Replication. You will have regular communication with IT on allocation of Server resources. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of expertise in database administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, along with a proactive and strategic approach to database management. It is critical that our different software systems can communicate with each other. Experience maintaining an ERP system is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Database Design and Architecture:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:

  • Proactively monitor and tune database performance to ensure optimal response times and resource utilization.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and system inefficiencies.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices related to data storage and management.

Backup and Recovery:

  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
  • Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to ensure reliability.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

  • Design and implement high availability solutions to ensure continuous access to critical data.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accountants, system administrators, field managers, and IT, to address database-related issues and projects.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations.

Automation and Scripting:

  • Implement automation scripts to streamline routine database administration tasks.
  • Explore and adopt new technologies to enhance the efficiency of database management processes.

Documentation:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Train and mentor junior members of the DBA team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Database Administrator or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of database systems, architecture, and best practices.
  • Expertise in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong skills in database security, backup and recovery, and high availability.
  • Proficient in SQL (e.g., Store Procedures, Dynamics SQL, SQL Functions,Triggers).
  • Proficient with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Javascript, PowerShell).
  • Experience with cloud database solutions (e.g., , Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps or GitHub is a plus.
  • Experience administering BI solutions is a plus (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Quicksight).

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is required to sit for prolonged periods of time, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, kneel and must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
