Job description

We are actively seeking a seasoned Senior Data Governance Analyst to lead our organization's Data Governance initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of developing and implementing a robust Data Governance framework, ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and completeness in our data assets. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data stewards, business analysts, and IT professionals, you will establish and enforce data policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure compliance and adherence to industry best practices. Seeks ongoing feedback, communicates overall program demands and gaps, and continually advances governance objectives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development and maintenance of comprehensive Data Governance policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Design and implement effective audit procedures to monitor compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of a sophisticated data quality framework, guaranteeing data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Actively participate in workshops, Proof of Concepts (POCs), and the selection and implementation of tools such as Policy engines and Data quality tools.
  • Collaborate with business and IT partners, as well as data owners across business units, to implement Data Governance practices that facilitate data discovery, security, compliance, and trust.
  • Establish and maintain data cataloging and inventory management practices.
  • Create and manage data dictionaries and business glossaries.
  • Implement data lineage and metadata management processes to meet the organization's data management requirements.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to define, develop, and implement a Role-Based Access Control system in accordance with organizational requirements.
  • Assist in data classification activities and contribute to the development of data retention policies and procedures.
  • Lead education and training initiatives related to data management policies and procedures for business partners, data stewards, and end users.
  • Collaborate with information and operational teams to ensure data assets are healthy, trusted, accessible, secure, and used in a consistent and compliant manner.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on data quality issues and risks to management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • Secure business unit support and ensure data domain ownership of data products.
  • Develop methods for monitoring, addressing, and reporting any data incidents.
  • Define and execute Data Governance operational processes (e.g., data quality measurement) in accordance with policies and standards, clearly articulating roles, and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate discussions and debates on policies and data access needs among different teams to drive solutions and ensure a collaborative and comprehensive approach to Data Governance.
  • Define and achieve Data Governance Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Take a lead role in developing enterprise content management strategies and solutions to ensure effective organization, accessibility, and security of enterprise content.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience (10 years' experience preferred) in roles such as Data Steward, Data Quality Analyst, and/or Business Analyst.
  • In-depth knowledge of the DAMA Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK).
  • Knowledge of Data Governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • CDMP certification is a plus.
  • Experience with data analysis, Data Governance, data quality, business data modeling, and/or reporting.
  • Experience in metadata management, data cataloging, data lineage, data modeling, and data management tools such as ER/Studio, Alation.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Financial Services terminology, concepts, business processes, and systems within a core data domain is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • SQL experience preferred.
