Within IT and the Enterprise Protection, Data & Analytics organization, the Decision Products team strives to utilize best in class data orchestration techniques and industry leading data science to drive PG&E's transition to the sustainable energy network of the future through data driven decision making.
Position Summary
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated Data Engineer to join our growing team of analytics product developers on Palantir Foundry platform. In this role you will work as part of design and user focus product development centric cross functional teams, including data scientists, Data Engineers, technology experts, and subject matter experts to develop data driven solutions.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $118,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $188,000.00
&/OR
California Minimum: $112,000.00
California Maximum: $179,000.00
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
Responsibilities
• Leads Data Engineering activities on moderate to complex data and analytics-centric problems which have broad impact and require in-depth analysis to obtain desired results; assemble, enhance, maintain, and optimize current, enable cost savings and meet individual project or enterprise maturity objectives
• Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and develop Foundry front end applications with the ontology (data model) and data pipelines supporting the applications
• Implement data transformations to derive new datasets or create Foundry Ontology Objects necessary for business applications
• Implement operational applications using Foundry Tools (Workshop, Map, and/or Slate)
• Actively participate in agile/scrum ceremonies (stand ups, planning, retrospectives, etc.)
• Create and maintain documentation describing data catalog and data objects
• Maintain applications as usage grows and requirements change
• Promote a continuous improvement mindset by engaging in after action reviews and sharing learnings
• Use communication skills, especially for explaining technical concepts to nontechnical business leaders
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5 years of experience with Data Engineering/ETL ecosystem, or in a similar role
• Hands-on experience in Python and PySpark
• Strong in SQL
• Experience in JavaScript
• Experience in Data Product Development building applications, data visualization, or dashboards using no- and low-code tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
Desired Skills
• Experience in TypeScript (preferred) or JavaScript
• Experience in Palantir Foundry Ontology-aware applications development
• Experience in working with large datasets and complex data structures in common relational database models and proprietary instantiations, such as Oracle, Teradata, Snowflake
• Familiarity with agile and iterative working methodology and rapid user feedback gathering concepts
