Join OIT's Chief Information Security Office, as our new Senior Cyber Analyst and work closely with the Secret Service, local REACT Task Forces, the Secret Service Cyber Units, and Rocky Mountain Forensic Labs. You will also develop and maintain a strong working relationship with investigatory teams involved in cyber incident response and investigation, and may also collaborate on malware and/or forensic analysis, supporting the execution of search warrants, and other critical responsibilities.


Some of the important duties you will perform include:


  1. Cyber threat intelligence analysis - collaborate with security operations team members to respond to escalated information, interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution.


  1. Lead Incident response, analysis, and cooperative work to resolve issues. Assist Secret Service law enforcement personnel in ensuring the successful resolution of cases.


  1. Serve as a member of the state's Computer Incident Response Team, (CIRT) and a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the response process. Detect, analyze, contain, eradicate, restore, and perform after-action reviews with the CIRT and recommend areas of improvement.


  1. Analyze and reverse-engineer malicious software to identify the source and work with law enforcement to ensure the successful prosecution of computer crime.


  1. Perform forensic evaluation and analysis on all major operating systems.


  1. Investigate and resolve security violations and identify targets for examination, collect all relevant data, preserve data/evidence in a forensically sound manner, examine and analyze collected data, report results, may be called upon to present in court, and archive data.

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three 3 years of professional experience in the Information Security field with an emphasis on forensic examination, intrusion analysis, and incident response.
  • Comptia Security +, or CISSP, or GSEC, or CEH, or other equivalent certifications from recognized standards bodies.



Substitutions:


  • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

  • Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated expertise in performing computer forensic examinations and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience performing penetration testing and making relevant recommendations to remediate findings. In-depth understanding of best practices in cyber incident response processes and procedures.
  • Experience in developing, documenting, and maintaining security procedures.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated network protocols and concepts.

Conditions of Employment:

OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.

A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.

This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.

This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.


If this posting indicates "remote from anywhere in CO" in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.


While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
